I mean, does it really matter? The end result is not in question. The Dems do not have the votes to remove Trump - period. If they think they're getting something like 22 GOP Senators to vote to remove the GOP President, they're even more delusional than I thought.

I think they're trying to knuckle the weak in the Senate.

As far as the "Bullet Theatre", they know nothing they do will have the same dramatic impact as Trump, his rallies, and his hugely successful policies.

He was trained at "The Farm", and went to Afghanistan, then assigned to DIA, and as a protege of Gen. Flynn he was brought onto the NSC team.

I don't believe he's a blackhat deep state operative. The person you want to look into is 'Max Boot' and he's about as deep state war hawk think-tank type as one can get post 9/11. Max wanted Ezra gone much earlier but his friends Steve Bannon and Kushner convinced Trump to keep him onboard when Flynn departed the NSC. Recall Trump publicly shamed Gen. McMaster who requested Ezra fired and Trump said no. Ezra's political connections far outweigh his experience in the intelligence business.

McCarthy piece offers some clues.

Every since this started, they've been squealing like Biden was the nominee, even though he had not declared,even though he has not won the nomination, even though he looks like a fading star.

So they do as McCarthy suggests and try to drag this out, like the Kavanaugh process demanding every more investigations into every more allegations which really have little to do with the articles they did send over from the House. They think they can accomplish a couple things: they lock Sanders and Warren into the Senate and off the trail. That removes Joe's main rivals. They lock things down and swamp the Senate with new things that *must* be investigated and they hope to so damage the president that he cannot effectively win re-election.

Kill two birds with one stone.

It all comes down to McConnell and how many Never Trump back-stabbers he stands to lose control of. This should be over those two articles and only them, and not like a new Mueller investigation, every expanding away from it's original mandate. But can McConnell stand firm and hold his caucus together?
