Say: when you produce cover songs and post them to Youtube, do you do anything special to avoid copyright issues? Do you buy licenses? I am not-so-hip to copyright and licensing issues, but I am going to post cover songs here in the near future. I have done a bit of internet research and (perhaps not surprisingly, for me) not found a really bulletproof answer.

To your questions, I think cover songs are fine? I posted those two covers we did a couple weeks ago and haven't heard anything from youtube yet...admittedly the stuff I posted in the last two weeks are the first vids in many years I have put up on youtube so I am somewhat ignorant on policy.

I am not trying to monetize anything and figure if I eventually get 100 views over ten years Im happy - I doubt they will bother me but you never know! It may have something to do with monetization.

Real solid legal advice there, I know. Im more worried about "lifting" clips from movies for my vids.

I say based on how many people are making covers on youtube either its fine or they look the other way.

DO IT!

It's been a lot of fun getting back into making these videos but now I need to start shooting my own stuff and I just don't have 48 hours in a day darn it.

I made a couple more vids over the weekend. I like this one - it starts one way and ends up another.

DOE, there are tons of cover songs all over youtube. I would imagine they are allowed. Maybe Gordi might know more on the subject.

I have been fuming over this crap from the beginning and knew it was only a matter of time before it home.

I'm going to play in the garden in the yard here and maybe take a dragon ride to clear my head.

The spring one was a couple months ago.

Just got a recorded message alert from the police department. We are urged to stay inside in case of trouble. Many cities have curfews, but we don't yet. Haven't heard of any rioting yet here. There had better not be.
