WOW - what a piece of crap. Look at the ends of the tape - what sort of a neanderthal nubbin finger freak stuck that down?

Unacceptable.

Do it again.

LOL It would probably make it to an art gallery. It's all BS and not about genuine talent. Who knows who, the same politics you see everywhere else in modern society. People buy the hack art to connect with the elite and 'important' people, and as a sign of social status. Meanwhile, real artists struggle to sell their work for any amount of cash they might earn. Van Gogh only managed to sell one piece of art in his lifetime, to his brother. Art galleries aren't about art and culture IMAO. You find pockets of real art and culture outside the elite's public meeting galleries. Walk inside an 'art gallery' with blue jeans and watch their horrified expressions roll up.

Sorry, rant over.

Because of this thread;
www.abovetopsecret.com...

I decided to enter the fray of the art world.

This is a size 11-13 black wool sock and 2 pieces of duct tape.

It represents my angst. And my foot covering when I wear shoes.

Bidding starts at 100,000.00 dollars.

Good luck to the winner!

The artist is juxtaposing the racial tension with with art. In the Trump era, the the artist cleverly uses the silver duct tape to represent the jailing and oppression of people of color by using a black sock. In addition, the sock represents the broader society walking over the less fortunate. All this is then clearly back dropped by the cheap plywood which symbolizes the economic and wealth inequality of all people.

Some of you just don't understand modern art. The artists intentions are clear. This piece is clearly should be in the Guggenheim. He deserves to be a Nobel Laureate in art.

Hmmmm. It does have a certain...socks appeal. I'm sorry. Forgive me.

Now, if it was Jeffery Epsteins sock and the tape and OSB was from one of his love-dungeons, then that'd be a different story.

Is that Jeffery Epsteins sock? Where is the other one?

What did you do?

Completely derivative and given a particular early Red Hot Chili Peppers album, pretty sure where the inspiration was inspired...

I am an art critic, you should have used white duct tape and real cdx plywood instead of chipboard. Socks ok though.

I'll swap it for a 10 pound sack of left footed kungfu slipons?

I think it represents a vital theme of our age. The sock's struggle is man's struggle.

Way too pedestrian.

Why it's not even argyle!

Alone and confined....a solitary sock.

The mate no where to be seen.

Maybe representing the ultimate truth: that we are all really nothing more, in the end, than a single sock taped to a garage wall.

Something deeply poignant about it.

Please do something with tampons next.

My art is like giving birth to something new.

It exhausts me.

I need to rest after creating.

But I will consider tampons.

You could call it "A Hole in One".

This was funny alright!

But... when you were duct taping your sock and then you photographed it, did you feel at all stupid?

Times like this makes me want to have 100k to spend. Okay there are other times like that too. Can't. I think i am just going to make this my computer desktop wallpaper.

The current bid for this piece is one rocket launcher and two goats.

Do I hear two rocket launchers?

is it dirty? I might make a bid if so ...

It is clean, but has a hole in the heel (not shown).

Ugh, old joke...

"Do your socks have holes in them?"
"No. Why?"
"Well how do you put them on your feet, then?"

*boom tish*

*crawls away in shame*
