No one capitalized on "conceptual" art like Gary Dahl. He made millions commercializing his creation into a huge 'fad" back in the 70's. For you youngsters, Dahl was the creator of the Pet Rock.

A friend of mine had one of those. . . though it didn't do to good, he must have over fed it and it turned into a pile of gravel. Go figure.

This was just a cheap 'knock off' of Martin Luther nailing feces to a church door.

Since I like everyone here, I'll give you all on ATS the first opportunity to buy my new art line.

It's an ink pen, duct taped to a wall.

I figure if I can sell 10 of them at 100,000 a piece (cheaper than a banana and lasts longer) I can make a million before the end of the day!

PM me for banking information and where I can send a piece of "signed" duct tape and an ink pen.

I'm going with some sort of scam. Charity and ' art ' is just another way the ' elites ' hide money.

1. Money laundering
2. Insurance fraud
3. Tax evasion

If you tape the wall to the banana instead of the banana to the wall then you are original

If you tie a string to the pen and duct tape the string to the wall. It’s functional art.

It also exists in numerous mom and pop restaurants that do carry out orders over the phone. So you might have cause for unauthorized derivative copies.

I'll be selling limited editions of my latest masterwork...'Sharpie Super-Glued To A Spaghetti Squash'.

Critics have called it a biting aesthetic commentary on the deplorable state of dental hygiene among writers of contemporary Scandinavian dystopian literature.

They make PERFECT Christmas gifts.

This is way more "art" than a banana, or even a lemon.

A squirelly kid, now that's art.

I'm in art school at the moment and you wouldn't believe some of the yarns people come up with to justify crap. If you can sell your concept, it's hailed as a great piece. Lol We did have a guy taping toast all over the building for a year. Too bad he couldn't cash in. As you can imagine, the college doesn't like my work, It's too ' classical, or traditional' The ultimate insult these days. I think Cattelan was literally poking fun at the art world (hence the title 'Comedian'). Of course they swallowed it whole, even knowing they were the butt of the joke. He's become extremely wealthy testing collectors and galleries. They always take the bait! I think he's even taking it seriously now.. yuck lol

It probably isn't about the nana.
Money laundering, payoff, etc...
Pretty sure it's done a lot with art.
Similar to book sales for politicians.

So? Celibate when a 6 month old does well? Don’t celebrate when a fully functional adult aspires to the skill level of a 6 month old. And your saying a child is not more imaginative than the average adult. Maybe you don’t value childhood.

Where/when did I say "a child is not more imaginative than the average adult"?

What I said was that a 6 month old child does not create works of art with the intention of them being works of art, just that.

Look, this isn't art.

So, what's your definition of art?

That's not real art.

According to my definition (with which my elder sister, a painter and photographer, agrees) of art, that's art.

Art: the result of somebody's work/idea that has no use in real life except making (some) people think or have feelings about it.

A banana taped to a wall is no different than a 6 month old scribbling on a piece of paper, if *this* is art.
