AOC blasted for 'misleading' tweet taking 'victory lap' over new Amazon jobs in New York City

So Amazon, who was going to NYC bringing 25,000 jobs and annual tax revenue of $1billion (half state and half city), pulled out because of AOC because she was mad Amazon wanted $3 billion in tax breaks. They would have broke even in just a few years and ended with a $24 billion windfall over 30 years. They lost all that. Those jobs were all in AOC's district too.

Last summer, Ocasio-Cortez waged war against Amazon after the retail giant struck a deal with the state of New York to open a second headquarters in New York City, which would have brought 25,000 jobs to the city, in exchange for $3 billion in state and local subsidies. Ultimately, Amazon backed out of the deal.

Amazon is bringing 1500 office jobs to NYC, but outside her district. This is something that had nothing to do with the HQ deal and would likely have happened anyways.

However, it was reported Friday that Amazon was leasing a 335,000-square-foot office space in Manhattan that is set to bring more than 1,500 jobs into the city.

"Won’t you look at that: Amazon is coming to NYC anyway - *without* requiring the public to finance shady deals, helipad handouts for Jeff Bezos, & corporate giveaways," Ocasio-Cortez said. "Maybe the Trump admin should focus more on cutting public assistance to billionaires instead of poor families."

She also posted a picture of herself sitting on the couch with the caption: "Me waiting on the haters to apologize after we were proven right on Amazon and saved the public billions."

www.foxnews.com...

Somehow she thinks she won by costing NY a billion dollar a year revenue stream because Amazon is still bringing a few jobs (6% of the HQ deal) to NY. Her constituents will not see any benefit of this deal either, the people who voted her into office are still complete losers here.

AOC could have had 25,000 jobs in her district from Amazon, but now, Amazon is only offering 1,500 jobs using rental space OUTSIDE her district.

She's taking a victory lap for a 94% loss in jobs in NYC and 25,000 job loss in her district.

Socialist logic is incredible.

I read this earlier this morning...what an infantile response from this supposed leader...seemingly ignoring 94% less jobs and a different district...wow way to go.

Sure someone will be along shortly to apologize to her for that 6% jump in office jobs for another district, rather than the multitude of jobs across the vocational spectrum that could of been.

A true fool

I wouldn't wish a job at Amazon on anyone. Horrible working conditions, maybe she did do those people a favor.

People do in fact do the job, so apparently it's better than the alternative. If Amazon is breaking labor laws they should be held accountable. A job being hard is not against the law.

I seem to remember that AOC was a bartender before being
elected to Congress.I think she should still be making cocktails
instead of being in DC!

She can't possibly be worse at that job.

There are plenty of things that are legal that are morally questionable. Amazon treats its workers like anything but human beings. Like I said, maybe AOC did her district a favor in a way.

The sad thing is that people would have called this a "win" for the community if Amazon came in and hired a bunch of people and then promptly treated them like disposable trash.

Jobs are more important than happiness apparently.

Slavery was probably a better option than starving to death back in the day, doesn't make it right or defensible though.

It wasn't so much about the tax break Bezos wanted, it was more to do with the technicalities of zoning in Long Island city, on top of that the 25,000 jobs would have been a black hole for high salary jobs more then the blue collar ones and cause a massive rift in affordability in the area, which Queens already has it problems with.

But all people care about is jobs now days, so who cares about standard of living.
