Seems like this thread is all about fantasy. As if a vote cast in any election counts, it doesn't. Only the votes cast in the referendum counted, because of the importance of the outcome. This election has thrown up horrendous choices for the electorate to choose from, and there is no doubt that the Conservatives are going to win with a majority that will allow them to pursue their side of the global agenda with unfettered ease.

We haven't left the EU, the ideology is still extant in the minds of half of the electorate. It remains extant in the minds of businesses and business leaders. What we will have for a short time is a UK in limbo, between a rock and a hard place. We will be subtly steered back towards the EU, because the battleground is that of our minds, and it is the minds of the EU doubters they have to change. They will do it through sublime and adapted pressures.

Just as they kept austerity in place long after they needed to, policies will be put in place that will follow the same principle, so don't be surprised if we are taken into a recession next year, because we can't find adequate trading partners while the EU question remains fully ambiguous and unresolved.

I didn't vote, because I cannot reconcile the choices in my mind. I know what I want, and I know how I want the country I used to know to be. It's just a pipe dream now, I am on the fringe whether I like it or not. The thing is, so are you, you just don't feel it yet, but you will, in time.

For this life, I have pretty much been handed my hat and coat, and you know what...I am happy to don both items. This political train-wreck of a nation deserves all it gets for its lack of awareness, for its apathy, and its lack of action. The young generations of today, actively seeking their own country's disenfranchisement from its own independence and sovereignty, will one day become the freedom fighters for that they abandoned. Pain is the only teacher here, and they have many lessons to learn.

Unfortunately you are right, you are really right. Stupidity eventually fixes itself . All one can do is withdraw to a safe distance.

More interesting is the London riot threads on Twitter....some people quite looking forward to kicking off if the Tories win.

Type "London riot" into Twitter and see some of the messages.

What a wonderful night for Britain
All the traitors DEFEATED.
We now leave the EU with NO DEAL if we so wish.
The left decimated.

It is so beautiful to watch the country punish the labour party for their obstruction. Labour are losing seats they've held fur 100 years.

Not read any recent posts.

First of all I can't believe the arrogance of leading lights in The Labour Party and their casual dismissal of the electorate's choice.
The simple fact is that this has been more an anti-Corbyn vote than anything else.
I've just watched Labour Party representative after representative state that its the electorate's fault because they are stupid and fell for Tory Party lies.
Absolute #ing bollocks - Corbyn is truly despised in traditional Labour heartlands.
They either take us for granted or think we are thick as pig #!

I'll take a very well educated and informed guess that many of those millions who have abandoned Labour have done so because of their dislike and distrust of Corbyn and his followers.

Many good constituency MP's will lose their seats tonight.....and its the British people who will suffer in the long run.

The Labour Party need to disavow Momentum and everything they stand for and return to their traditional core values and concentrate on representing their traditional core supporters.

A dark, but very understandable night.

When I was a child I was always told "no body likes a snitch"

Reminded me of the labour canvassing methods which instead of relying on policies

used tactics of trying to dig the dirt on their opponents...... so their inadequate

policies would not be examined too closely.......DIDN'T WORK.

Correct.
This is a total victory against the traitors.

It's not a dark night at all.
Democracy won.
This was all about Brexit and punishing those that tried to kill democracy in this country with disgusting tactics like calling for a second referendum, taking no deal of the table etc.
Those people have been slapped back into line.

Its official now. The Conservatives have comfortably passed 326 seats (on 348 and rising at time of post), meaning a Conservative victory. Labour have been decimated.

Democracy my arse.

With any sort of even half decent leader Labour would have smashed The Tories.....Corbyn is a liability and probably the single biggest reason people deserted Labour in droves throughout their traditional heartlands.

I assure you, there is no love for The Tories up here......just the least worst option in some many peoples opinion.

As for Brexit; Johnson is effectively forcing a piss poor deal on us. One which has been laughed out of Parliament before. The only difference is the sell out on Northern Ireland.
If Johnson is a true believer in democracy he will give the people the choice they want; his deal or NO DEAL!

And I suspect that this will be viewed as the start of the break up of The United Kingdom.
How can anyone deny Scotland IndyRef2 when they have spoken so clearly and overwhelmingly?

Yes, a DARK NIGHT.

Tell you what, the melt down in the graun's comments section is a sight to behold.

The mask has really slipped and the nastiness laid bare for all to see.

Happy Swinson, Umunna and their ilk got a kicking.
I feel really bad for Dennis Skinner though.
He was undone by policy set by arrogant remainers in the PLP.
