Hypothetical: does anyone think Ivanka taking Donald's place in 2020 is possible?

Still think theres a bigger possibility of that than that he will be followed by another trump.. even if I were to think there was a slim chance of that happening.

By the way, no president can pardon someone from crimes prosecuted by a state...

That's true... But I imagine that would be even harder at a state level as they don't have the same amount of resources.

Trump used to be a very prominent democrat, so I don't think we can count that as a prerequisite any more.

One thing he did do is smash all the constraints we used use to view a candidate as viable.

Trump has become more conservative with age. Ivanka, not so much.

I've always viewed him more as an opportunist than defined by ideology.

I don't see Trump not completing his second term...There's still so much left he needs to do.

As for why he would want to be President in the first place...when he could live out the rest of his life in retirement luxury?
THAT'S not who he is...a man like him would be bored to death by not being active and taking on the biggest challenges of our time.

Ummm...it’s not too hard to imagine that he actually gives a crap...that he actually wants to “Make America Great Again”...

When you factor in how much money he’s lost since becoming President I’ve read upwards of 1 billion dollars...it’s easy to extrapolate why he ran...

The man actually cares about the country and those that live here...all the hyperbole aside...and that becomes obvious...

Anyone reaching a different conclusion...or baffled at this point is just incapable of connecting the dots...

I really think legacy questions are somewhere way down the list...IMO...natch...

I mistakenly read your last statement as circus on what people think. I'll leave it there.

I have a hard time imagining many Trump supporters voting for a woman like Ivanka.

To pay back his many debts to the banks, also to feed his massive ego.

That permanent tax cut starts to make sense when you think about him owing them favors for his many years of being rich and famous. It also explains why absolutely nothing about the status quo has changed in his first term. Doesn't hurt that that permanent tax break will benefit him immensely in the long run. He awarded himself a few millions bucks at least.

I’d say anything is possible with Trump. This would definitely allow him to live an easier life, while maintaining power.

Why did a billionaire want to become president in the first place?

He already told us why. It’s because he was tired of watching our politicians sell out our country. He felt he could bring back a roaring economy, jobs, wage increases, better trade deals, and fix immigration. All of which are his top priorities as president.

On topic: He won’t be stepping down. That’s a left wing wet dream because they know once the DNC have selected their candidate, Trump will rip them apart in the debates because the left and media haven’t given them any ammo in the last 3 years. Plus they all seem to want pure socialism for our country, which will be thrown back in their faces when it’s time to vote and we don’t rely on bias polling data conservatives rarely participate in.

Sell out our country on his own dime, actually. He's admitted to bribing our politicians. Why would he want to dismantle a system that served him so well for decades? Politicians are still selling out our country, lobbying is bigger than ever. He's done jack # to stop politicians from selling the country out.

The Republicans are knackered next election, they will let bonespur take a loss for the team and he can go about with the original plan, make mucho money from the gullible and easily manipulated by doing tours, books and a new news station proclaiming how the election was rigged blah blah blah, hes already turned on fox news.
Depending on the length of austerity from the upcoming recession the blonde shoe salesgirl will sit it out for a while knowing trump fanboys will vote for her whenever, she will want to step in when the economy is on the bounce.
A self centered lying idiot with no care for humanity and now pro fascist is what the Republicans ticket has to look like so the tea party will likely see a bounce in popularity in 2024, can't see a true Republican candidate declaring anti-fascism being evil as a good idea.
My guess is the self centered lying idiot with no care for humanity and now pro fascist shoe salesgirl makes a run in 2028.

I'm not left wing, but it is my wet dream she takes it... I got the odds at 1000:1, guilty as charged.

I too highly doubt it will happen, but it seemed possible enough to flirt with.

That's messed up you're calling out Barry like that.

He's saving America by becoming a billionaire off holding the office at one time.

Joking aside, I always saw it a bigger flaw from making money from the office rather than before it.

Planks in eyes before pointing out specs in others and all that.

I have a hard time imagining the Christian right voting for any women unless they are confident that she will let her husband hold the reigns and just be his puppet..
So, would they really think that about Ivanka, and if they did would they want Jared holding the reigns?
Lol.. I think Ivanka holds more power in the marriage than he does, she is after all daddy's little girl. And, I doubt if Jared would be their first choice to hold the power of the presidency. Neither of them are Christian and I doubt if they'd be willing to pretend they are.
So, I think they'd lost the Christian right..

Except much of the Christian right adored Palin for god knows why.

I don't think that line of logic holds water. To me that thinking is more of their vehemently opposition to Hillary, which I as neither right or Christian shared.

A block of salt is not nearly enough for a salon article...

Is it possible?
Oh yeah, absolutely.

Probable?
Nah.. Not at all.

Before Trump won the presidency, I was convinced he wanted to create a legacy far beyond just being rich as hell. I havent seen anything that has changed my mind on that, and in many respects he has done genuinely well. But.. I dont feel he is at all "done," for better or worse.

I dont really care about his personality, it amuses me. But, there are definitely things that I dont like, especially when it comes to anything Barr, privacy, 2nd amendment, and anything technology.

The rest of the field are even worse on most, if not all of those things (with the obvious exception of Barr), and all have platforms that I dont just find disagreeable.. I find them disturbing.

When it comes down to it, I dont believe he thinks he is done. Honestly, had there been less obstruction and "orange man bad," I could easily see him being a single term president. Which is a bit funny..

Daddy holds the reigns to Ivanka now, so obviously daddy would hold the strings later and always.
