This has to make ya go hmmm. Seems a C-17 crew stayed at the Trump resort in Turnburry after stopping to get fuel. Most of those planes stop in Germany or the Uk to fuel. Allegedly there is $11m in fuels bills to that area. Seems the golf course went from losing $3 mil last year to making dough this year. Thats not fishy or nothin.

Spending is an issue. But in order to cut spending you have to have a Congress willing to work.

Cut rate lodging and free golf? These flyboys are humans you know, they probably went out of their way to get that kind of a deal.

As a former military member, you are not forced to stay anywhere. Instead you are give a particular Per Diem which is based upon the location of your TDY. You are also supplied a Per Diem rate for food and upon your return you are reimbursed any other expenses you incurred like fees, taxi expenses, if authorized in your orders a rental car. You can make reservations wherever you wish to stay, only expectations are that it is within the authorized Per Diem established each year for that location.

You have a DOD credit card issued in your name that is required by law to be used for your travel expenses especially those involving your overnight accommodations. Again the individual can decide to stay at Motel 6 or the Htatt Regency, your decision. You are responsible for any amount above the very generous Per Diem but that's it. Before the mandatory credit card use, one could stay at Motel 6 and still recieve the full Per Diem which could be a significant amount and thus profit tax free cash.

Unless some big changes occurred and its possible since I left the military, this is a non story since the individual is able to stay where they want. Air crews are often mixed of Officers and NCO''s so the crews usually follow the leadership. I can imagine many crews deciding to stay at a Trump establishment where no doubt the staff would have instructions to treat them like Kings. Besides, I remember the Trump corporation declaring early in that any money spent at their facilities by government employees would be returned to the Treasury Department. And besides it's not much, even if rooms are 300 hundred a night per person we are talking a minimal amount in relation to both DOD and Trump Corporation. Another nothing burger to give one side something to tell about the other side

You would think that Congress members would be investigating how so many of their peers end up millionaires after their elections.
I would like have that question answered.

Common man. You know very well that if Obama owned a string of Luxury Resorts and if even $1 dollar of "the peoples" money was spent in one. The very budget conscious Republicans would be all over this with a fine tooth comb calling for something against Obama.

Due to all the trade wars going on buying American period would help. Buying Trump while he is fighting to improve our economy shouldn't be a bad thing.

The left would prefer our military to buy from terrorists before they bought from Trump.

Just something else for Congress to waste our tax dollars on. While not doing their job. People like you will point this out but be fine with Congress and other actors wasting even more millions.

this question will never be addressed, unfortunately, because both sides are at the trough to some extent.

Obama spent millions in taxpayer funds at Martha's Vineyard.

I agree that this appears to be exorbitant spending on the government's dime. I'm not saying I approve of it. Only that it isn't that high on my radar. HARPA is. Believe me, I don't agree with everything Trump does.

But I've noticed that HARPA and the social credit scheme being talked about aren't being fought by democrats and it's Trump that's considering it. An air force crew staying in a Trump hotel isn't a priority

It cost around $45,000 to fuel a C-17. That would make the total number of planes around 20. Not to mention Trump being magnanimous when he offered cut rate rooms and free green fees for staying there . None of that sounds like a money maker to me .

The letter also cites a Guardian report that the airport provided cut-rate rooms and free rounds of golf at Turnberry for U.S. military members.

This is just more noise made by Cummings for the mainstream media to misrepresent .

The letter, signed by signed by House Oversight Chairman Elijah Cummings and Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), notes that U.S. military expenditures at the airport “appear to have increased substantially since the election.”

More desperation by the Democrats.?

I had a GTC I used during NTC rotations.

This is why it isn't a big deal to me. I always assume in a few days more details will come out and will be a whole lot of nothing. It gets tiresome playing this game with the anti Trump crowd.

Things may have changed.

If they need to stay off-base, the Pentagon puts up crews at inexpensive hotels picked by midlevel officers -- none as ritzy as Trump's resort. "Master sergeants are cheap," an Air Force official told Politico.

Since every move Trump makes is scrutinized to the nth degree, 24/7/365, we should find out in the coming hours and days whether profits were obtained illegally using US government funds, or whether his business took a hit to accommodate the crew members during their stays.

IMO, any legit investigation would likely show everything was above board albeit a departure from S.O.P.
