Did you never study post depression US history? The manufacturing sector built the largest, most prosperous, strongest middle class the world has ever seen here in the USA. I'd argue to my last breath that allowing that sector to freely leave us for China, Taiwan, Korea, and Mexico was a royal screw job and is the number 1 reason this country is looking at a lot of the issues we currently see today, including the wealth gap, rampant homelessness, the welfare state, and a generation of lazy ass bastards who think the country should pay for them in any endeavor they wish to undertake rather than recognizing you get what you earn in this life.

535 representatives are the Legislative Branch

In the context of what was earlier said, no individual Senator or Congressman has authority equal to the president. It requires a majority concurrence for one of the other branches to equal whatever is emanating from the single voice of the Commander in Chief. Sorry it doesn't fit your narrative, but it is Constitutional fact.
