" many " is a meaningless term - lets have numbers

how many people executed in the US since 1980 - were later found to be innocent [ and how many executions have there been [ same period ]

" exonerated whilst sitting on death row " - sounds suppiciously like an successful appeal to a higer court - which is ecactly one of the safeguards built into the system

The silence from the "pro-life" crowd is deafening. The fact that conservatives want the Government to have the authority to execute its citizens is abhorrent.

Just sayin': Time to Get the popcorn ready.
SAY, maybe we'll get to see those fancy guillotines in use that Obama ordered through FEMA...

hmm. What is the penalty for treason again? I think we might be needing this penalty soon for a few traitors.

Has anyone been accused of working with Iraqi or Afghani enemies right now?

If not, I think sedition is the crime many people mean to say in this context.

Accused? Absolutely. A lot of people have been accused and likely are guilty of working directly with ISIS/ISIL. Any other questions?

Though im unsure of the validity of the guillotines conspiracy, RT has a better track record than Snopes at this point. You should find a decent source, sir.

Context is key my friend.

You didn't catch the undertones on pg1 of the thread?

There are people saying that this will be so that the DOJ can go after (what I assume to be) politicians.

If you read who these five men are that are scheduled to be put to death and what they did, you will realize they are animals that need to be put down. This kind of evil does not need to be breathing the air of this planet.

And what of innocent people who are murdered by the state?

You guys are assuming the person being executed actually committed the crime, when we know for a fact innocent people are routinely executed due to flaws and/or corruption in the legal system.

Are you guys ok with innocent people being murdered by the government?

That would at least be a consistent position if you happen to be pro-abortion.

Nobody is innocent in the same manner as an unborn child who hasn't even had a chance to reach the decision to be good or evil yet, so your argument is misplaced here. While I have no doubt some have been sentenced to death for crimes they did not commit, there are multiple safeties in place to limit those as much as possible... how many safeties are there to limit or restrict abortions?

Please try actually searching for such an article on Russia Today.

Go to their site and put "guillotines fema" into their search.

Doesn't exist.

What if we support the death penalty and abortion rights? I know the possibility of this existing in one person makes others heads spin, but we're out there.

IMHO all federal execution should be carried out in like kind of the crime. Lets say you rape and kill a person then you should be raped and kill slowly just like the victim. Televise it just like the good old local hangings of yester year. This would surly be a deterrent.

I only agree with the death penalty in certain cases, mainly due to corrupt officials convicting innocent people. Too many people have been exonerated (Yes I used the E word) after spending years or decades in prison.

There has to be absolutely no doubt........Boston Marathon bomber, for example, should have been put to death immediately instead of sitting in jail.

No deterrent on earth will stop some of these predator's. The only way to deal with them, is to send them back whence they come, hell!

So you're ok with murdering a small percentage of the population if it's for the greater good?

Talk about a slippery f# slope, man.

How do you feel about those caught in the act? Lets say someone robs a store shoots the cashier it all on film. Do you have a problem putting the dog down?

No system is perfect and no individual is without blemish. I think the system we have is solid enough to justify the breaking of a few eggs in the process of providing society with their ommolettes.
