Haven't seen one since Quantum of Solace actually. I liked Casino Royale, but my husband hasn't really liked Craig all that much.

Looking at pictures of her on imdb she looked better with long hair.

PC crowd gone stupid. Way to kill a good mythos thats been around 50 years. I think the beginning of the end was casting Daniel Craig as well.

Maybe they're catering for the millions in Africa, throw in a few cigarettes ( sponsored by tobacco companies ) and we're good to go.

I would have agreed with you but for one word: China. It'd make more sense to have a Chinese gal or something, if the casting was indeed actually for financial/marketing reasons...

Well, the Bond films are usually very good. Let's wait and see with the next one and the plot before we all write it off.

Of course we don't know whether Lashana Lynch survives into the next film to becme the next one. In deed, there are rumoured to be several contenders for the next Bond and they are all men, and range from Idris Elba, Benedict Cumberbatch and others.

Will she be a lesbian?
What about Miss Moneypenny?
Will she use a Walther?
What kind of car will she drive...

I can see it now......
She’ll be drinking a strawberry banana smoothie (shaken not stirred of course), driving to get her nails done, in a Prius blasting out Beyoncé, with her trusty can of pepper spray, while texting on her secret new iPhone.

As the Bond films slide down the same path as the Star Wars franchise, their final form will be a politically correct mish-mash of characters with lots of action shots and virtually incoherent plots.
I predict that Jar Jar Binks' one-legged blue sister will be the next Bondette.

Well, they could have made Bond gay...... Oh wait..

We have already female spy movies.

Why can’t we have male spy movies?

Opinions vary. I've seen all the Bond films ITD and IMO Craig is the best of them all.

Yet another franchise ruined. If you wanna do it organically that's fine, if it's done just "BECAUSE WOMEN" then it's wrong and they've lost my viewership.

Why does anyone care about this stuff? Just enjoy the movie amd ignore the hype.

Captain Marvel was a great movie. For example.

It's like casting Molly Ringwald as Kunta Kinte in a remake of Roots.

So much typical right wing crying. Who cares. It's not like all the Bond movies were even close to good.

It sounds like Mr. Bond is still alive and the new 007 is going to team up with him for a movie? As a fan of all 25 including the original Casino Royale, I am eager to see where they go with this. Is she going to fly in the face of popular convention for the "victim" feminist or will she be more like Bond with a steely determination, penchant for assassination, gin, murder and hot sex?

I'm intrigued.

From what I'm seeing, Craig comes out of retirement to go after Blofeld which is confusing. Is Lashana Lynch going to be Bond or not?

www.thesun.co.uk...

This calls the whole thing into question - maybe they're seeing if anyone salutes a female bond as a trial.

According to the Daily Mail, British star Lashana Lynch is tackling the the iconic role in the 25th edition of the beloved spy franchise, which has called everyone from Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan to Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton its lead. But reports say that while Lynch will snag 007’s famed code name, according to the New York Post, she’s not technically the new Bond. Instead, she’ll play a new character who takes over Bond’s secret agent number after he leaves MI6. Lynch, a West London native, rose to stardom as the fighter pilot Maria Rambeau in Captain Marvel. She has been spotted filming the new version of the film in Italy and the United Kingdom.

Obviously, you care enough to post about it.

Do you know why I care? It honestly has zero to do with my political leanings, and everything to do with my love of a good story. My degree is in English lit. with a concentration in writing.

When you go to write a story as an author, you are envisioning people (or at least you should be). Fully formed, fully realized people. When Ian Flemming wrote James Bond, he had a character, a person in mind as he was writing and imagining his stories. When I write, the people I write about are fully formed people in my head and they are intended to be exactly who and what they are down to the very last detail.

If I write a woman, the character is intended to be a woman. If I write a man, the character is intended to be a man. If I want one to be gay, then that character will be gay, and that detail will be important to the story for some reason beyond simply being in there to make gay people feel good that I have a gay character. And if anything I ever write happens to produce a character that becomes iconic, then it's because the character I created the way I created that character in every detail has become iconic.

People expect that character. You don't just easily or lightly change certain details about the character and expect people to love it the same way. It doesn't always work, and in fact, Hollywood should be learning the it really doesn't work most of the time they try it.

Just try imagining that tomorrow you suddenly wake up a woman. Would you still be you? Would people just take that in stride and treat you the same? Of course not, but I guess we're supposed to just handle it happening to all of our fictional characters -- they morph sexes and ethnicities and orientations as easily they might put on or take off their clothing.

I am guessing you aren't thinking the one about Mrs. Lincoln's dressmaker.

I have zero interest in watching another iconic character recast as a woke Mary Sue. The only way we can stop this crap is to speak with our dollars.

Daniel Craig is best 007 in my opinion. He played it very well, a tough SOB that will put on a tux and play baccarat, but an operator at the core. Seems to be an update to modern times over the old 007 legacy.

Pierce Brosnan was worst. More concerned about being smooth and so impressed with himself that you should be also. Just not believable that he could win a fight against anyone over 8 years old.

I don't care if a black woman plays Bond or anyone else but, when they push the agenda and make it all about that then it is a bore.

Bond movies same old formula for a long time. Women in Bond movies are supposed to sleep with James Bond, he falls for a special one along the way, she croaks, he kills them all and goes back to his old ways.

They do need to find a way to adjust the formula, it's pretty rehashed.

Like John Wick, he obliterated everyone because they killed his dog...
