I can personally testify that fish have pharyngeal teeth. I deep-hooked a species of fish that we call 'fallfish' in central Pennsylvania, and I did not have a hook disgorger with me. I stuck my index finger down its throat to dislodge the hook. The fish bit me with his throat... not just a pinch, mind you, but sliced my finger deep in two places.
They are in the carp family of fishes.

There's a place in Omaha, Nebraska, that cooks a very good carp. Joe Tess's Place. It's an old restaurant that used to be a hot spot for all the Polish American workers when all the slaughterhouses in South Omaha were doing big business. They deep-fry it in batter, and all the small bones inside get cooked soft, so what you're left with is a delicious fluffy-white fish along the lines of a catfish, but more flavorful. Visit before it turns into another Mexican restaurant.
