Hmmmm...I wonder if the "Live" page issue was somehow related/connected to the '27 to 33' issue?

Could this be why "Live" remains 'dead'?

If so, and speaking for myself, I would gladly give up "Live" forever if it spares us from the '27 to 33' problem!

*gasps* I'm not sure that's a good deal!

I've had a minor answer in the thread here www.abovetopsecret.com... from JohnnyAnonymous.

First he said all was good after clearing his cache. Well, there's a large chunk of us for which that does nothing to help.

But he then answered me after I'd questioned him on if his LIVE page is working and...

Can you confirm you are saying that the "LIVE" page is working for you? Or is the latest thread "silent rotor technology" because its been that for a few days.

This is the main thing people are saying isn't working.

Sorry for the late reply... (earthquakes and all here in California), But yes it was working then and is working still now.

Johnny

So hmmmm. I'm not sure. My thoughts are perhaps why we've had no Moderators answer is they cant see the problem? Maybe it's something to do with Mod permissions so it's working all fine for them?
Could the problem be limited to just certain geographical locations? Maybe it's working fine for Cali folks?

Anyway. Still not working, and if it helps - my location is Australia.

In Cali. Can confirm the LIVE page hasn't updated since the 3rd.

Hmmm. Well, I count three mods who have heard of the problem now. DontTreadonMe - who closed down 2 threads and referred them both to another thread which was then closed down by the mod Blaine - who referred to them to this thread.

It's only JohnnyAnon who answered a little in another thread saying it's working for him.

As far as I know, is he the only person that says the LIVE page is working? It seems its not for most of us who used it as our main/only home page due to it's undeniably vastly superior layout.

(Also, tried on windows 10 laptop running Chrome- not working and a windows 8.1 desktop running Chrome.)

Again sorry for the tardiness in getting back to you... This is a huge website.

Despite what I said, it appears some of you are still not getting a page to load for you (IE: for example the live page).

I hope that as was suggested before about clearing out your cache will help significantly. Also as I mention that I used a PC data cleaner (called CCLeaner it's free), and that I noticed a significant speed increase. Believe it or not, some have expressed a significant speed increase by logging out and relogging back in, (to me that sounds plain silly till I tried it a few years ago and it worked for me... go figure).

You say your in Australia, it's quite possible that some of your servers there might be hitting a cement block to as many across the globe have been complaining about their internet not being up to par.

In cases like this since we don't know what machine, OS, router, motherboard, etc. you might be using, we can't make any finite solutions to your current inconvenience (sorry, were not mind-readers although we try). I can only share mine and the results of others that have cleaned theri cache and the results of such.

With that being said, because I'm a Mod has no relevance to this type of situation, we get affected server-wise just as the rest of the membership does.

went on a friends computer and went to ATS to the Live page (literally just minutes ago) and the live page popped up promptly (IE see pic). And I'm truly sorry your still having problems. I have passed along your concerns and frustration to the rest of Staff.

If you look at the screenshot it states today's date. If you click on the "new" -ist thread shown, you will see it is from July 3rd.
The page is active, but it is not updating for new, flagged, or recent.

I have tried dumping cache on all of my devices and still have the same problem here.

I run a form, but using different board software.
But whenever I run into a problem like this, it`s usually that site cache may need to be dumped, and my admin tools has an option to recount posts.

My 2 cents may be only worth 1 cent, but I just thought I`d chime in.

I went back to the LIVE page and yes some of the post 'originated' on the 3rd, but have had a number of posts added to it when you go to the last post in that particular thread (some of them from yesterday and today).

Or am I missing something?

Thanks for looking into it! Yes, you are missing something! :-)

Look at your screenshot - note the thread "silent rotor technology" as being the latest thread, and "Today Obama's DHS etc." as being the most flagged thread.
Those have been the exact same since July 3rd. even though it states it updated "52 mins ago", it's in fact been about 4 or 5 days now.

So at least your screen is showing what we see
That's a great start and SUPER appreciated!
Quite relieved to see (almost) you see the same fault or at least your screen shows it. Must have been a misunderstanding as to how I worded it. But yeah, it appears to be working, but for us ATS junkies who have the LIVE page as a default place to be when on a PC, it's really noticeable that the threads are not moving along as they are supposed to.

Cheers and thanks again!

The "new" section used to show the most recent threads created across all sub-forums (maybe not RATS), and the "recent" section showed the most recent post in real time. The flagged section either showed current high flag threads, or most recently flagged threads (I've never been sure).

The page is not updating, this is what some members are disappointed about (myself included).

That page has been a great home for ATS as it allows us to see the most recent thread created, the threads that are currently active, and the threads that are currently getting flagged.

Also note this thread about live issue where the user doodle posted a picture a few days back. See how its all the same as the pic you posted today?

Cheers! as randomtangent says - it is the best page on ATS and for many of us - it's home!

OK... much thanks as I believe I understand what your trying to convey that regardless of the time/date, the actual post dates back to July 3rd(ish) rather than whatever 'new thread' may have been created since that date July 3rd(ish)... Yes?

AnyWho... I'm going to send this info back to Admin/Staff and drop it in their hands as this is beyond my pay-grade (which doesn't exist) and my knowledge of even how to fix the problem.

Sometimes I can't see the forest because of the trees... Appreciate you all helping me get a better idea on the whole shabang (crosses fingers in hopes of an easy solution).

Yes, exactly.
Thank you. It means a lot that you listened to us and followed up on this issue. Hopefully this issue can be be fixed, but if not, we know someone on the staff at least takes the time to understand our concerns.

Thanks Johnny :-) I'm so sorry I wasn't very clear trying to convey the problem, but very glad you understand it now. Fingers crossed that those above your pay-grade haven't stopped the live page to help the overall speed of the site? Or if it's just one of those unfortunate whoopsies that happen.

Anyway - I remember how bummed I was when your ats video show stopped, gee's that was a while ago, hope back then they had you on a decent pay grade - because that's why I am here. Hopefully LIVE isn't the next to go forever too? But I'm going to try and remain calm because I'm sure if they were intentionally going to drop it they'd have let us know before the update - and would have removed the LIVE tab altogether.

Just very relieved the guys upstairs have been told. Now you can go back to those tummy rumbles California seems to be having and best of luck with that. At least it wasn't the San Andreas fault. (lord knows why anyone want's to live on that!)

Last part first... I live less than 40 miles away from the fault line... so if I show up missing after some earthquake, check for a sinkhole with an ATS Bumber-sticker on it to find me!

I don't believe there has been any intention of shutting down the LIVE page.... so everyone take a nice long deep breath and send some good Karma and positive thoughts to the SkepticOverlord (Bill) and others that constantly work on trying to keep ATS running for everyone ( and me included, 'cause I luv's this place too).

And as far an conveying it correctly... everyone tried their best to get me ontrack... it only took a few tree branches in my face to remind me that were in the forest (thank goodness for that). It's I, that is appreciative to have a smart enough (and patient too) membership to keep us informed on glitches like this.

So THANKS AGAIN!

...By The Way... (and this is for everyone on ATS)

If at any time you have a glitch or suspicion about some area not up to 'snuff' (do they still say that?), please feel free to message us at the CONTACT ATS PAGE. Once it's in our system (via the Contact page), were able to get the movers and shakers on it to fix the problem. We might not always reply that we got it, but that doesn't mean that were not ontop of it. ATS is a very large site and we try our best to keep everyone happy and chugging along.

Yes, I saw those as well. I believe that is due to the script error causing the page not to complete processing and therefore the requests failing as an affect, not a cause.

Problem is server-side, the three live feed urls deliver the old content:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

I agree. The PHP error IS server-side. I never said it was client-side scripting. If the PHP error prevents the complete processing of the page, then anything that depends upon that being completed (whether synchronous or asynchronous) will fail as well.
