According to several news reports. Including the BBC. IRAN has claimed to have downs a RQ-4 Global hawk UAV.

The Global hawk is a high altitude UAV that has a very long range radar and other surveillance options.

A US spokesman for Central command. Said that the US had no aircraft in Iranian airspace but refused to go any further.

If true this will be the second time the Iranians have successfully downed a US drone.

Iranian military claims to have shot down US spy drone www.bbc.co.uk...

If true this will definitely raise the tension even more after the latest tanker attacks.

At the altitude they can operate at if going in the proper direction wouldn’t be hard to believe the drone wasn’t in their airspace but crashed inside their land.
Not hard to believe a drone would be there either though...
One things for sure though, if it was a US drone things are going to start happening soon...
It seems real conflict is inevitable now with all the info we are being fed there is so much more information which is being withheld and that is for certain...

Seriously... This is their best war-fighting equipment. I think they stole that design, from Saturday morning cartoons... three decades ago.

It's far from the second time that a UAV has either been downed or came down near or in Iranian airspace, but I have major doubts that they managed to get a Global Hawk, unless they had help.

The Military Times reported last week that Iran downed the drone just before planting the bombs on the hull of those 2 oil tanker ships. They didn't want it to see them performing the deed.

Meh, nothing is going to kick off over a UAV, if they did shoot it down, and it wasn't an accident.

You have to be careful when every news article cites the same "anonymous" official, like they're doing tonight.

It's reminiscent of the myriad of Trump-Russia collusion "blockbusters" over the past 3 years.

The question I ask myself is, that if the drone was outside Iranian airspace. Why risk a war in shooting it down?

What is there to gain by doing that. I can understand if it is in their airspace.

The IRGC claims it entered Iranian airspace. If it did, it most like had a GPS issue that took it off course.

Is there technology in the region to interfere with drone GPS. I vaguely remember a few years ago when the RQ170 went down it was reported to have been hacked?

It wasn't hacked, it was spoofed. Yes, there's technology that could do it in the area.

Is that the standard convenient excuse? No insult to you intended, seriously asking...
Kinda sounds familiar though...
Is there an ongoing issue with the gps systems?
