If your sworn enemy boast that as soon as he is finished making a sword he will cut your head off, do you lend him the use of your black smith shop? Or do you you burn his shop to the ground?

I’m just asking, don’t matter to me, I carry a gun.

Agree'd too

But that begs the question, would you bring a knife to a gun fight?

I say we let Israel and Saudi Arabia handle it, they're both capable. Plus the ruskies and the Chinese wouldn't think to kindly of us knocking over their sand castles in Iran.

But that begs the question, are we doing the right thing for this region and thus the world? Hasn't history shown us that dictators only have perused weapons of mass destruction and nuclear capability in the name of defense to their sovereignty?

No, history has never shown that. History has shown us dictators will use whatever weapons they have. I seem to recall a WMD attack on the Kurds ...

EDIT* Do you think I'm going to be followed by KGB agents now for desecrating Putin in this light? If I never post on ATS again, you all know what happened.

Saddam gassed the kurds over a border dispute based on British drawn lines in the sand. You know why Saddam invaded Kuwait right?

lend him the shop, and even ask if he needs help. But keep an eye on him. You can't go after him for what you think he might do.

Uhhh..... Iran has repeatedly and openly advocated the destruction of Israel and the west, many times.
We don't think we know why they want nukes we know why.
And after we threw them such a lovely coupe.

I don't speak farsi, but that claim is up for debate (their repeated claims destroy Israel). They can't do anything to the US as it stands, they don't have ICBM's.

But there has been savor rattling on both sides. The US feeling threatened by Iran is like someone being threatened by a a bees nest across a pond.

So now you excuse why he did it. So we've gone from he'd never use them to excusing why he used them.

I do and the quote literally translates into, 'Your carrier task force is as weak as the bottoms of old shoes, we dare you to come get your oil infidel pig dogs'.

Yep be you're right about the current threat level to the US.
About as much a threat as North Korea was before president Clinton signed them up for pretty much the exact same deal Obama gave Iran .

Good point. We've been "attacked" so many times in modern history you'd think we'd have learned by now.

It's funny, the country that attacked us, dirtbag Saudi Arabia, is our pal and the country that didn't, Iraq, is a dumpster fire of our making.

If they didn't have the oil, we would have treated them like NK. But since they do have some of Jed Clampet's juice, we will probably have to show them how to do democracy our way. Perhaps we can do it quietly, have the CIA fund some small group, have them overthrow the government, install a puppet, then have a fresh new enemy in the CIA funded small group to have a war with in a few years. It's kind of our go to move at this point, and seems to be working sooper well.

You guys already did that once..how did it turn out?

But Saudi Arabia has been playing ball other than helping the attack against us. Something something strategic ally and economic partner.

What is amusing here is..there was a deal in place that kept this somewhat under control, then the grand dealmaster rips up the deal..truly genius

The stage is set. Mueller report and partisan politics has everyone distracted. Bolton has as close to a boner as he can achieve. Bibi pulled out one of those old school markers that still gets you high to finish off that fund raiser poster board he made in the fifth grade... And Israel has a special election coming up. This would secure the elections, and he only has two guaranteed years left with some people he knows will play ball.

I'm not saying it's gonna happen, but I couldn't think of a better environment to make it happen.

Bolton is bad news, for the world!

The stage is indeed set, I sure hope the warhawks will not get their way. If they do..it's going to be world changing.
I'm hopeful sanity will prevail.
