ATS is way too right-wing now

For all of my life I have never been anything, in terms of left or right, blue or red.

The fence got moved so far right due to the left's wacky antics, but I'm still sitting on it.

These days anything right of Stalin is "too right wing".

ATS is the podium, the members write the opinions. I think you will find it pretty permissive here either way. All entertainment runs it's course.

if you didn't know any better, you'd probably think this place was full of racist Nazis that like to hang out at Stormfront and attend KKK rallies.

There are 103 forums on ATS, with maybe 10 or 11 forums that deal with politics. If people don't like that there are too many right wingers commenting on these forums, then they shouldn't go on them. If people think ATS is filled with "racist Nazis," then they shouldn't log on any more. They should hang out instead, with other triggered Liberals at Mother Jones or Theyoungturks.com.

So I think instead of complaining that this place has become too right-wing, you should instead be asking where did all the left-wingers go?

Upon further reflection, I view this question as the most important part of this post. The truth is, many have run away seeking the refuge of the left-wing echo chambers built by the social media giants.

It's easy to do when they get lied to by their own sources regularly, are embarrassed regularly, have to eat crow regularly, and show zero sense of accountability for their dishonesty throughout the process of debate.

I never considered myself right wing. But if the alternative is to be lumped in with a bunch of emotionally stunted imbeciles, then I'd rather be called right wing.

Non-existent old timer here. They say be the change you want. In this context, that means state your opinion even if it goes against the grain in the hope that others will change their minds. That's all and fine, but there comes a time when you get tired of being a voice in the wildnerness. The one whose opinions run counter to the majority.

The politics here are what they are. If you don't fit in, go elsewhere. Hang out in Pets or Cooking or the other 100 sub forums.

Life is too short to complain that you don't fit in with a certain mindset or clique.

Do you do that in real life?

Is exchanging one echo chamber for another really a step in the right direction? I don't think so, personally. The front page is a perfect example of which echo chamber this site belongs to these days.

Some on ATS are pretty abusive. They jump out of the bushes and call you names out of a dehumanising contempt. You need to be a masochist if you're openly left and trying to have a discussion on ATS.
They say it's this way in both sides and the others started it. It's a kindergarden. With adult drama.

To me the key difference between left and right is on the right you don't hide the fact your guy is the top dog, on the left (ideological spectrum) the ideal anarchy on the far left wants to get rid off hierarchies and with it the identity VIP # in politics. People would have to vote more, attend meetings to manage their communities, .... sorry I'm dreaming.
Sure socialist dictators for life like Putin happen, but they come to power by the will of the people like elections, or as continuation of the revolution, .... did you know Fidel was a lawyer and Che doctor? Che was far to the left of Fidel.
And that's the truth about red govs they're appearing left, but their leaders are far right.
I will say something now, lots of people will hate me for: Che was hot. Just wow.

Anyhoo the right threads are something I just ignore mostly, they're great camouflage for my political leanings. And I just don't take # so serious. Yell at me, it's scary, bite in your keyboard, it will be okay, just a lefty...

What does that leave you? A bunch of right-wingers participating in an echo chamber with fewer and fewer people with an opposing view giving their opinions.

That's a lie, because what I also alluded to, was that we are not all right-wingers. It's not our fault that most left leaning members were unable to defend their positions without having emotional outbursts. Most of which led to their departures.

I actually encourage those with dissenting opinions to come forward, just be prepared to defend your position. And screeching it is so, is not a very good argument, if at all.

It's not a lie, what about it is a lie? Look at the front page on any given day. Look at the posts in those threads that get the most support, by far. You're telling me it isn't an echo chamber? Tell me one left leaning echo chamber that doesn't allow dissenting opinions and maybe your point will be valid.
