Trump is seen as the bastion of the right wing currently.

People who do not associate with right wing ideologies will not agree with this. Hence, the protests. It happens.

Just as humans have this need to almost worship what best represents their life and mindsets, they also despise and almost obsess on the opposite. This goes both ways, left hates right, right hates left. The out spoken and most heard are the ones that will be recognized, and heard.

The main problem I see right now is that left wing politics and ideologies have become this sort of romantic idea of what could be, but no actual 'leader' to the idea or someone to look to. Most left leaning people who champion the idea are hyper intellects who are rather off the radar and aren't leaders. Whereas most people who champion capitalism and right wing ideologies fit right into the mold of competition, leaders and those who want to 'win'. As much as Trump is a terrible leader at uniting people, he is amazing at winning and getting people to do what he wants them to do, on top of this he's great at making divisions between ideas.

Fear of their own imaginations and pure narcissism. They were promised Trump was the harbinger of a neo-fascism, nuclear war, the end of NATO, and economic ruin. But rather than admitting they were wrong they double down and betray their own allies.

From a British perspective the fact he hasn't dragged our forces into any wars is good enough for me.
If the loony left in the UK want to protest anything they should be at Parliament shouting about our arms sales to Saudi Arabia which are being used to kill civilians by their thousands.

The issue is about why mass protests organised by The left though.
Is his golf club thing more important than say arms to Saudi to storm London over?
Is being a buffoon more important than Brexit to raise millions of people?

You get my stance on this I hope, it just seems the most pointless protest ever, but it has infected the left like an unverified political meme which has gone viral on social media.

It's not that bad here yet though, just the media give it large with scary headlines, and the left wing activists are just the loudest shouting usually.
Pity they don't feel so passionate about real issues instead of "Orange man bad", it's pathetic, but these socialist worker poster carrying rabble do not represent the majority of Brits.

Climate change denial? Well, 90% plus of scientific academia in the world disagree with him so I'll concede that, but really? The protest will not change his policy, so if you want to be holier than thou then protest the UK government to get our own ship in order for carbon neutrality first.
Fuelled white nationalism? Give me a #ing break, his border and immigration policies are less strict than the UK's, nothing to do with race, if I overstayed a visa in the US I'd expect to be kicked out if caught, and I'm white as snow.

I'm no fan of him, but he's better than the loony Dems from everything I read, Hilary would have dragged Britain into another war if she had won, but Trump is less gung ho killing brown people and wasting money/resources.

So to Brit members especially, why do you think the left (including London's mayor and senior opposition politicians) have such a bee in their bonnets about Trump having a chit chat with her Majesty - and why the outrage when the UK has given state visits to some real tyrants in recent years? Few hundred people at best when the Chinese leader came.

US members please do chime in your thoughts, it must seem as crazy to you as it does to me with all the things going on in the world to protest over.

All thoughts welcome, I've been to many protests in London over the years, but protesting Trump is one of the last reasons I'd catch a train to London for.

The UK is much further along the road of leftist totalitarianism. It also lacks the same freedom of speech laws that exist in the United States. Leftists have a much easier time silencing anything or anyone that threatens their totalitarian utopia.

Britain is split right now, left/right leave/remain (EU), just the left/remain camps are organised by the Labour party and the national trade unions so seem to be the popular view. Don't believe the hype though.
