If someone ever told me, with a straight face, that they grew KALE as a crop...

...I'd probably have to cut 'em!

I have a small Kale garden, it's right next to my Crabgrass garden.
Both are equally decadent. And I use that word like Steve does when he's eating a 50 year old MRE(random youtube reference).

I like me a smoothy on occasion. A cup of milk, five scoops of Ice cream, and some vine ripened strawberries makes a real good combo with my commercial malt machine. Maybe even toss in some chocolate syrup and a banana on occasion.

The smoothies I've tasted by the daughter over the years might be good to a rabbit who has lost his teeth from old age.

www.cosmopolitan.com...

Kale has a compound in it called thiocyanate that, in high amounts, severely interferes with iodine metabolism, which can, in turn, result in hypothyroidism. Eating too much kale in an effort to lose weight can actually lower your metabolism (and affect a lot of other things that your thyroid controls). The condition is not common, and drinking kale juice seems to pose the biggest risk. So enjoy it, the stuff is healthy in moderation.

KALE is a conspiracy! It really is. Not even horses will eat that crap, and if a horse doesn't eat it...then I'm damn sure not going to eat it!! My cows won't eat that crap either.

Try it in veggie soup really good!

Kale is horrible. I tried it with the blue apron delivery. It is disgusting. I would rather eat grass from my yard than put kale in my mouth again.

A good smoothie is:

Frozen fruit of your choice( strawberries, blueberries, peaches, etc.), banana, yogurt, splash of orange juice. Yummy.

Kale is pretty terrible. It was garnish when I started cooking also.

Swiss Chard that's where it's at if you like greens. Saute some Swiss Chard with salt, pepper and a little garlic. It's really good.

Kale is ok if you "kill it" by sauteing in butter with garlic.

Kale rocks!!!
I've been drinking kale smoothies for the last few months, do you not know how to make it taste good??
GINGER makes everything taste good.

It is probably the tastiest thing I put in my gullet all day.

This has kale, collard greens, spinach,GINGER and an orange.(I change it up but I think thats what was in that one)

MMMMMM

This morning it is kale, beets,GINGER, an apple and an orange.

I can make anything taste good, can't you??

Well sure, but that's just it...Why? I mean, I could probably make barnacles taste good too, but again...why?

I do like your idea about ginger though. Ginger is awesome! And the beets, apple and orange sound great too. I just don't see why I need to add kale to it.

On the nutritional side of things...remember when butter was bad? All the "leading experts" said butter was very bad for you, so instead they wanted you to eat butter substitutes which were loaded with poly-unsaturated trans fats...which turned out to be WAY worse for you. And then there was eggs, and the list goes on. (Ooh, ooh, remember Olestra, and guilt free chips???) It's almost as if these nutritionist folks intentionally go find something tasty and label it "Bad" so they can coerce you into eating something which they've got too much of, like toxic waste (in the case of butter substitute), or...kale.

Oh well, I'll just shut up now and go choke down a big wad of yummy sidewalk kale salad, with a kale smoothie, an entree of tofu with a corral kale hollandaise and wrap things up with a sun baked kale compote.

ETA - BTW, your mug says it all about kale! My words pale in comparison. LOL!!!

LOLOL!!

Yeah, I guess.

Kale is just wrong!

There's probably some big hairy green kale-monster hiding under my bed now, waiting to attack me tonight because I was mean to it. Attack of the Killer Kale.

Health benefits!!
Beets taste like crap too but when you toss in some ginger, its great for a hangover.
The ginger kills the hangover, settles the gut and the beets clean out the liver. haha

1 drink a day and some exercise has done wonders for me and thats coming from someone who was already in shape to begin with.
I have actually gotten a bit leaner since I started drinking these but I don't mind.

Your body is a machine...you get out of it, what you put into it.

Processed cheeses, margarine etc etc etc are not things I want to put in my body.

I want real food with no ingredients in order for my body to be able to handle whatever hell I decide to put it through and those drinks are a major source of good stuff!!

THATS why!!

Also, butter is awesome and goes in my coffee when I need fat in cold weather...its a great winter camping drink.
I'd like to try to make my own butter but thats a different thread.

Barnacles have health benefits???? Learn sumthin' every day!

I hear ya, I'm just kiddin' around. Oh, and beets, beets are GREAT!! I LUV me some beets! Ever try some Borscht? Delightful stuff! I don't think there's anything with beets in it that I don't like.

Actually, now that you mention beets...I hadn't considered I might be able to choke down some kale if beets were involved.

Maybe I'll go out and "hack down" some kale and add some beets to it.

I'm off to the shed to get the weed wacker! I'll report back.
