Bill Weld, former Massachusetts governor, launches GOP primary bid against Trump

Bill Weld, a former two-term Republican governor of deep-blue Massachusetts, officially entered the 2020 presidential race Monday, mounting the only GOP primary challenge against President Trump's reelection bid so far. "In these times of great political strife, when both major parties are entrenched in their "win at all cost" battles, the voices of the American people are being ignored and our nation is suffering," Weld said in statement. "It is time for patriotic men and women across our great nation to stand and plant a flag."

I have heard the name but I really do not know much about him at all.
Okay I do not know anything about him...

Does he have any supporters in the community?

The Republicans had about 16 throw their hats in last time and about 3 or 4 had any kind of reasonable change to be selected.

If trump decides to run again there is no Republican out there that could beat him.
Today anyway.

This guy just wants to say he ran for president.

Not to mention he would be 75 at election time.
Well past his use by date.

I believe this is the guy who was Gary Johnson's vice president pick.
Take that as you will.

Nope, not a chance at all! Weld was Gary johnson's Liberterian Vice President candidate in 2016! He went down with Gary in that election. His chances sunk with that ship, in other words.

Republicans as elephants do not forget as easily.

Well there is the embarrassment of an incumbent having to run a primary and what if he loses?

He has to sit through the entire election season on the side lines as a lame duck.

Like I said, I know nothing about him.

Any from his neck of the woods?

That was before two and a half years of trump.
Things may be very different now.

The Fed will decide who wins based on interest rates.

To many ifs and buts at this point.
Wait to see if trumps runs again or not.
I wouldn't be surprised if he doesnt.

The only embarrassment is thinking Trump will lose in GOP Primary. I'm still curious to see the DEM Primaries because at this point I think Trump wins reelection easily, never mind the GOP Primary. We'll have to see who the Dem Candidate is, and what kind of actual policies (Not I HATE TRUMP!) they'll come up with.

He ran on the Libertarian ticket in 2016.
He sucks.
He should retire his lame Massachusetts butt.

Are you kidding? OF course he's going to run again... he already started his campaign and has already raised more money then any other candidate for his reelection bid so far.

Trump Raised $30 million in first quarter

That's not someone who "Might" run... He started the campaign already and has busted past the starting line.

They will be different now because now Trump has proven himself. All the 2016 doomsaying has come to no consequence. I predict those that voted only to keep Hillary out will find it much easier to vote him back in 2020. Especially with the hilarious candidates that the DNC is putting forth.

I know.
But I can see him changing his mind at the last minute.
Investors know when to sell their stocks or when to hold them.

As a side note, I want him to run again.
I think hes doing great.

Now there is an option I had not considered.
Interesting perspective. Wouldnt he have to announce that pretty soon so that the party can muster up some candidates?
I wonder what Mit Romney is doing next year lol? Or Jeb Bush.

Or would he simply say see ya the day before the election.

I think that is what this is all about. Someone with some influence is having this guy make a "run", so that libs can say that Trump was primaried by the GOP, LOL

Talk about a nothing burger joke. This guy won't even qualify for a primary debate, he likely won't even get on the ticket in a single state.
