Write something in notepad. Make sure it is 50 words.

Click new new thread in the Short Story forum. Put SS2019 at the end of your title and copy and paste your story. Job done.


ETA And make sure you have replied too.

I'm not 100% sure about the particular forum in which the contest is held, but I think you need to have a minimum of 20 posts before you can create a thread outside the Introductions Forum.

Once you've introduced yourself and responded to all the hellos you'll likely get, you should have the minimum number of posts needed.

To create an introduction thread, click on the link above then click on the,"New Topic," button to introduce yourself:


The same button in each forum is how you create a new thread.

Please forgive me as I'm not exactly sure how to post/link here yet - I'm new. This sounds fun, I've inquired from Gordi regarding how to do so. I figured I might write mine here, and perhaps you can post it until I figure/am taught how. If that is wrong, my bad!

Oddness for sure, I've had no issues with any of the links.

I know sometimes when people post the link directly instead of using the bbcode or built in script of the reply box the link can be truncated and not lead to the desired location, but that isn't the case in any of the links I've clicked on here so far.

Doppelganger [SS2019]

Hello and congratulations to all writers of the last contest and good luck to all writers for this contest too.

Here is my first non-writer submission of exactly 50 words. I may write another, but I am not normally paranoid so thinking in a paranoia state is a little bit hard for me as I tend to approach most things in a science-based manner first.

Hi Cyn,

The [SS2019] just makes it much easier for the staff to find and pin your entry at the top of the Short Story Forum.
(Some readers like to go direct to the Short Story Forum and read lots of entries in one go, rather than scan this thread for them.)
Missing it out will NOT result in a disqualification, but will make it harder to locate your entry - I can ask our staffers to add the [SS2019] and pin it if you like?

Hi Mr,
Yup, as Light and jaded have already indicated (THANKS Guys!)...
You can write your entry in notepad (or similar), then go to the Short Story Forum (There is a LINK in the OP here) and start a NEW TOPIC using the "+" menu button at the top right of the Short Story Forum main page.
Enter your title (including [SS2019]) and then copy/paste your entry into the "Your Opening Post" window.
As jaded mentioned - you need to have 20+ posts before you can start new threads, but that'll come quickly if you reply to all of us!

When your new thread is complete, click on it and you will see that your Opening Post will have a "LINK" pin near the top right. You can right-click and "Copy" link location, you then create a reply in this (contest) thread, and - using the Link Button (6th button from the left at the top of your reply) you can name your link and then paste the actual link into the appropriate window for everyone here to see. (I can help to provide a "link" post if that sounds a bit complicated, but I think that it's best if YOU create the actual Short Story Thread yourself!

That's an easy one... did you remember to send the "secret" payment??? (wink wink)

OR

The pinning process is done manually by our wonderful mods & staffers, and occasionally it takes a wee while for them to "spot the stragglers". So long as yours have the [SS2019] in the title, then I'm sure they'll be pinned soon!

PS - I will check back later just to make sure, and will report any stragglers!

cheers from a fellow drummer currently laid up from drumming minus very slow with hotrods for 2 weeks because of tendonitis and perhaps carpal tunnel (tingling in thumb) due to too much weight lifting followed by two nights in a row of drumming. grrrr
