And yet the Communist Party has ran candidates for President before.

The only reason they don't now is that Democrats have slid left enough that they just endorse a Democrat or Progressive candidate.

The Dems have been sending out their own red scare propaganda for the last two years. Even got a special council appointed. The communist party switched to the Democratic party.

I'm old enough to remember the Gus Hall era.

Short Wave listeners could get Radio Moscow real easy. they would report US news and add 'US Communist Party Chief Gus Hall said..." and he was only getting 3% of the vote nationally.
supposedly Moscow asked him why so low and he said they weren't giving him enough money.

IIRC 60s radical Angela Davis was on the ticket one year (VP?)

supposedly J Edgar had a plant in just about every chapter.

I agree with you except for one tiny thing. Calling the ''corporate ''jackboot'' that is about to step upon humanity ''communism'' is a fatal limitation for the real ''jackboot'' that is descending upon us.

Both communism and capitalism breed authoritarians. Actually, just about every form of human organizational development breeds authoritarians. Calling the authoritarianism that is sweeping across the world ''communism'' let's the entire capitalist side of authoritarianism off the hook.

A good example is Amazon. Amazon is driving many other retailers out of business. It is centralized sales and delivery. Jeff Bezos is not a communist, he is a capitalist. He has made his massive fortune not by communistic theory but rather by exploiting developing technology and large amounts of capital that allow him to buy out competitors.

While we scream about the centralization of power in the hands of communists, why are we not shouting just a loudly about the concentration and centralization of power in the hands of capitalists? My guess is that what few ''real'' communists there are do not have the financial ability to defend themselves, while capitalists can easily rely upon a centuries old fear of communism and while stoking that fear easily hide behind the old ''it's them, not us'' meme.
