Yeah..
That's what it is...
Couldn't possibly be anything else, amirite? Larson is strong, an innovator, the best actress (artist!) of our (all!) time.
Seriously, this type of dismissal is getting really, really old. There are a ton of strong female characters and leads that the fanbase loves, and I
mean
loves!
Because they are fantastic.
Personally, my biggest concern is the decimation of beloved franchises. There is still a wee bit left of what made them beloved, but any and all
criticism are dismissed similarly to how you dismissed this. Because of that, the likelihood of any criticism actually being considered is slim to
none.
That's a shame when we are talking about IPs that were great to many people. From Ghostbusters to Doctor Who, we see storytelling,
actual
strong characters, continuity, and even acting skill all go out the window in order to preach.
"Show, don't tell" is a thing for a reason, yanno?
Extra credit points go to Disney for apparently hiring a butt double for Larson. Normally a meh thing, but in this context.. hilariously ironic
Anyway, for me, the issue here is Larson's seeming inability to have a facial expression other than smug and bored. Once its seen, it can't be unseen.
