Some chick is the star in this, isn't she?

Will there be a shower scene?

You know what would be really daring and fresh in Hollywood?

A movie that has an actual story with real plot and characters written to service the story itself and not satisfy perceptions of any other sort, and actors cast for their ability to portray the characters and subject matter and not to satisfy any other perceptions.

If any dared to make that movie today, it might be worth paying money for.

It's a marvel/Disney movie, i'm guessing rated pg13 so....no...there will be zero naked ladies showering. There'll likely some extended lesbian innuendo or full on sex however.

Thank you for this, it was an interesting(and sad) view, but it speaks volumes about where our country is heading. The very first thing my wife said when the video was over is "This sounds like Ghostbusters all over again.", which it does. The trailers looked bad, but if anyone said anything about it they were misogynists. It's sad to hear it happening again, especially because many of the things people are saying is just outright wrong.

The comment about MRA's hating the fact that a woman in 80's tights beating up on a musclebound male is completely wrong. There's proof in the comic world. Let's take Squirrel Girl for example. She's silly, goofy, and has taken down almost all of Marvel's ultimate bad guys including Thanos. Her first victory was against Doctor Doom of all people. Hell, she's even beat up Wolverine. lol In other words, she's a more enjoyable(and possibly relatable to some) character than Captain Marvel.

I completely agree with what the one reviewer said about Captain Marvel as well, at least as a character. A few years back I worked at a store that sold comics and I remember when Captain Marvel #1 came out. Our store was hyping it up and since I was getting back into comics(thanks to working at that store), I decided to pick one up. I read it and hated it. I liked nothing about the character. I could not relate in any way. I also didn't like the fact that she was dating War Machine. It felt like a forced progressive viewpoint which annoyed me and I'm a minority married to a white woman, so that should say a lot.

I'm a firm believer that the majority of people are ok with powerful female heroes and the proof is out there if you just look without getting offended at everything. Wonder Woman is a great example. I have not heard a single person say they didn't like that movie. None. Nothing but praise. I'll even point out that many people have told me that Wonder Woman is the ONLY good thing about the Batman vs. Superman movie. Everyone hated that movie until she showed up.

If you want people to like a movie then you need to make it a good movie. If you have to rely on PC-brigade strawman-nerisms to make people feel guilty for not liking something, then that's a very good sign the movie isn't going to be that good. People are allowed to not like a movie even though it has a powerful female lead. Not liking it doesn't make them misogynistic, just as not liking the Black Panther movie doesn't make one racist. My co-worker told me the other day that he actually did not like that movie at all, but that's another topic. lol

I can already see it: Captain Marvel will be nominated for best picture Oscar like Black Panther.

Most people love Ellen Ripley. She's a pretty strong female character.

There was nothing wrong with Black Panther although I'm not sure how it gets a best picture nod.

There was nothing wrong with the movie (nothing great about it either) but it represents something for the progressive minds in Hollywood. They want to give it an Oscar nod just to pat themselves on the back in front of a massive audience.

I LOVE Ellen Ripley. The alien films were some of my favorites growing up and I always look at Sigourney Weaver as a badass. Same with Milla Jovovich. I may not like the RE films(mostly because they're not true to the source material), but I love her as an action star.

Also want to give a nod to Cynthia Rothrock, her 80's films may have been cheesy, but I enjoyed them. Also don't want to forget about all the badass women in kung-fu films throughout the years. I have lots of respect for them and what they can do(especially since I can't lol). Michelle Yeoh is definitely one. I even like her in films not related to martial arts, such as Sunshine.

I’ve never really been a fan of the Marvel movies but Thor Ragnarok really impressed me. So you never know till you try I guess.

Why would I click a random video when I don't know what it's about?

why would you post on a thread, when you haven't a clue about what it's about?

Maybe you notice where I said I would like to know.

That's why

The op is about a feminist actress saying publicly that she doesnt care what white men think about her new movie.
Now the studio will not issue refunds to men who are taking her advise and staying away from the movie.

Did that clear things up?

She was being misquoted the other day when she said that the majority of people doing her interviews were white males. And that she would like to see more diversity in the people doing interviews.

Did something else happen?

I read the reviews, don't bother much with trailers as they are set up to suck you in using psychological manipulation via emotional triggering. I won't pay for a movie at the theatre unless I "know" it's good (nudge nudge wink wink, say no more lol)

I thought black panther worked well, you know, use a pretty good black actor for a traditionally black superhero, makes sense. Of course the idea of a super advanced technological society in africa is a helluva stretch. I wonder if the writer ever lived in africa, I did and that super advanced city ain't happening anytime soon lol.

As far as captain marvel, seems that superhero was traditionally a white male. Making the character female, female and black, female Arab inbred and mentally handicapped, etc, isn't going to change 70 years of tradition. It will simply make these new writers look stupid and lose their audience. Which of course will lose their backers tons of money, all for some twisted progressive idealistic project that really doesn't do jack to change the social topography.

Let the idiots waste their money making crap movies. Let them have 4 people in a theatre. Eventually these mental midgets might grow a brain when they lose all their money and their backers wake up and say, WTF?

ETA - Stupid me, just watched the trailer lol. Lots of hype, music and other crap :-) If these crazy writers want a female superhero, might be a good idea to come up with some original material and make one. When they substitute different genders or races for these characters, it's like trying to steal the "brand" and then bind it to your own agenda, it's very Hegelian. It's really not unlike Coke buying Tampex and then telling women that Coke bottle is the new Tampex, so just walk around with that.

Cheers - Dave

I think it's their way of trying not to admit pumping out quantity over quality eventually exhausts consumers.

Much more time used to be put into the arts, like movies and video games.

They've now moved to releasing new franchise titles yearly/bi-yearly... Offering new skinned products following the same template.

Take battlefield 2 for instance, it's a reskinned Battlefield 1 game that got rushed out and is several patches away from being functional. They complain gamers are sexist becuse they can't accept women characters in the game. While that may be true for a trivial margin of players....

The rest of us just don't want to keep shelling out $60 for half assed products that you'll sneak shady micro transactions in.

Truth is, people are just getting tired of subpar content at rising prices over what we used to have access to, real entertainment at a fair price.

People asked for a refund.
Nobody says they have to do it.
In my business I tend to not try to push off my customers but that's just my opinion.

She has been getting a lot of heat from the marvel fan base. Deserved or not is an opinion.
The majority of those fans are white males.

I will NOT pay to watch this SIMPLY FOR ONE REASON... Brie Larson's big mouth. Shut up and quit trying to make everything a political issue. We go to the movies to be entertained...not told what to think or how to think. I will not reward them for being leftists shills.
