Alan Duncan is just acting as spokesman for EU opinion in this matter. There's nothing surprising in this. He speaks English, is articulate and from the UK. The voice of someone from the UK carries more weight than the Maltese foreign minister, or even the German one. May be the last time this happens, so relish it!!!

In a couple of months if Brexit ever happens, the EU will have a significantly reduced place in the world in terms of diplomatic clout, economic power and balls.

Venezuelas Maduro Given Ultimatum By European Leaders

Or what? Is Europe going to invade Venezuela?

Europe will do whatever the US tells them and to hell with democracy, Trump, Tusk, May, Macron, they are criminals and they're out of control

Europe will do whatever the US tells them

Sure they will . Just like they have always so far
You cant be serious
And I will not call you Shirley
This is a "You are on Candid Camera" moment , yes ?

Why do you think the US has so many "European Allies" when it is time to bomb sovereign countries? Because the US tells them to.

"Oh look. Syria seems in need of humanitarian these days. Can anyone afford a few bombs?"

Shirley, you can't be serious!

Having paid attention to what all is going on, the following can be stated:

It is a mistake for Europe and the USA to get involved.

What is going on in Venezuela, is political turmoil and ultimately could be the spark of a civil war. Its people are desperate and looking for a voice, that is slowly being stifled and their economy is shot. But most tend to be taught, like most countries, is that they were at one time a colony of Spain, and have had their country interfered with by various powers since gaining independence. Much of this influence, lasted up until the end of World War II, when having colonies and being so heavily involved in other countries, became unfashionable and letting things go.

Right now it is a question as to who is the President, and it is one that is full of political intrigue. And there is only one group who is going to determine if Maduro remains in power or not, and that will be the military. He gave them power, and like most militaries in that situation, or anyone, giving it up may not be something that they are wanting or willing to do. So far the military has been behind Maduro.

Added to this, is that Russia is heavily involved in, and having a permanent seat on the UN security council, may be blocking any and all votes coming from the UN, to protect Maduro and their national interest.

If Europe or the USA tries to intervene or make a movement towards Venezuela, Maduro, very well will be asking Moscow for assistance, to include manpower and equipment and agreeing to terms that Russia will want, and it would not be in the interest of the USA at all.

The only move here, would be for everyone to stay back and simply work to contain and keep the problems of Venezuela within its borders and not spread out to other countries in the surrounding region.

Speaking on behalf of the EU, UK Foreign Office Minister Sir Alan Duncan said Venezuela needed a government "that truly represents the will of the Venezuelan people".

Yeah.

So, uh, how is that Brexit coming along? You remember, the one where the people expressed their will via vote and the government represented that will?

In 8 days get ready for the EU, UN, US governments to suddenly find evidence of Nuclear Weapons and declaring war against Venezuela. I'd lol this but it wouldn't surprise me.

It's not just the developed world. The rest of South and Central America think Venezuela is an affront.

I'm sure Maduro appreciates the toilet paper courtesy of the EU.

The U.K is waiting for the E.U to blink, and historically the E.U always change their position at the last minute.

Although regardless of the deal made, we will be tied into this entity forever I feel.

As for Venezuela, how dare the elected president carry on in his post? All these democratic countries calling for undemocratic coups, you couldn't make it up.

But they would, wouldn't they? Lest they find themselves needing a bit of freedom themselves.

For some strange reason Venezuela's gold reserves are in London, he wants it back but they have refused to let them have it. Why not as its just an anachronistic metal with little value in the modern world ? If Maduro is the legitimate head of the Government until otherwise this is a big thing, like international theft. Its starting to look like another Bankers war, as another country tries to break free, they have to pay the price. Libya Syria Iraq etc ?, but this is another problem entirely since Mexico is backing Maduro and if the rumours are correct Israeli and American Marines are already on the ground in Venezuela along with Russian private mercenaries, backing the other side, with Venezuelan army units heading to the border with Columbia . This could be interesting.

Not for the people of Venezuela, I wouldn't think the idea of their country being turned into Syria is very appealing

Jeezus fkn wept! Are we seriously here AGAIN? .. In the 60s we had financial hit men, convoluted coup de dats, and "regime change". We didn't have social media and on the ground updates of what was really going on, yet here we are again, were the US doesn't like what's happening so engineers an entire regime revolt to get things their way. This is not only a disgrace, but also obvious . And the buy in from the corporate media and lack of world wide condemnation and outrage for what it is is dispicable. There's nothing we can do. We're fkt. I'm checking out. Watchin it burn.

If true, that is likely because the rest of South and Central America have puppet governments that do the bidding of the US.
