I thought most bears were hibernating at this time of year? Which begs the question, was it a bear?

Plus this is hibernate in a cave season for Bears in NC. They are not very active but they are not totally out of it just conserving fat. Probably when in that state they are not even hungry, I am guessing.

Well, I want to believe IN bigfoot. Just no proof really till we have one alive or dead to study.

Bears are not near as big as we know. Therefore, that cave would have to have been a huge one for a bigfoot, right?

We need to know more about that cave to close out the BF theory or confirm it I see.

I live in this area and can tell you a lot of people here are crying bull#. He was found after a 911 call were someone told operators they heard crying coming from woods . Search party of over 200 people had already checked that area the day before.
It was freezing cold one of the days he was missing getting as low as 24 degrees Fahrenheit the whole bear story seems kinda fishy why would a child climb into a bears den? Most likely scenario some one took him and when things heated up dropped him close by where they took him from and made a bogus 911 call. They probably kept him with a stuffed bear to keep him calm hence the story he hung out with a bear remember he is 3 not the most reliable of witnesses

still love happy endings. Glad the kid was found alive and well, and hopefully wiser.

I agree. Something sounds off about the bear part. Maybe we’ll learn more as the investigation continues. It’s going to be hard to interview a 3 year old, if you’ve ever tried it you’ll know just how hard. If it was an abduction I hope they find the culprit fast before it happens again.

He is just 3 years old, but Id imagine his only frame of reference would be a bear for big furry animal. LOL my nephew saw two cats fighting around that age and all we could get out of him was him making cat noises and scratching with his hands. Cant see a bear not eating or attacking him or hanging around with him for 2 days. Not speculating just doubt its a bear, but very glad he is safe and alive.

It could have even been a big black dog that was living out in the woods. Maybe it was once someone's pet. When I was a kid we used to play with a husky on the farm and it disappeared one day so we went to all the farmers in the area to wee what happened to our friend. I guess it stopped by their homes too but was a wild dog. It was the friendliest dog I ever got to know. One winter it did not survive I guess, the one farmer said that half way through that really cold winter it never came back. We did not stay on the farm past November. Everyone else around knew that dog was living out in the woods and visited them but us. Those days it was common for dogs to be running around, after the seventies they got way more strict on licensing dogs and chaining them up.

Dogs build up heavier coats when they live outside. I have seen some dogs that look like bears, They kind of shock you when they come around the corner of the house when you go there to work on it.

Maybe someone can show him pictures of bears and Bigfoot. See which he picks out of the lineup.

OTH, angel stories include animals that aren't actually animals.

Bears eat what's available when they are hungry. As for hibernating , NC might not be cold enough for such things.

Agreed, a bear of any sort would not handle the boy's soft, warm flesh.

Im sure the parents have peppered him with questions, but really all they need to ask did the bear walk on 4 legs or 2. Sadly we are likely to never know the whole story.

I have been thinking about this..

Bears can get up and change location in the middle of winter,, The den can be a tiny hole in the ground so not easily found, bears will not eat during the winter, and when they wake up, they need to get the ol stomach in working condition, by for example eating acidic insects or frozen berries, before they can chumdown some meat.

There is an old saying, that a normal bear does not want to harm humans or livestock, only a bear that has a sickness or is very old, is dangerous, i believe this to be true.

This whole thing does not sound impossible.

I am not familiar with the NC bear population but where I'm from, you don't see bears in the winter time. They hibernate. Or at least hold up for long periods of time.

If bears are out in the winter time, they are generally hungry as they most likely did not pack away enough fat for the season. Logic would dictate a meeting of a hungry bear and a small child would not end well for the child. But who knows.

My faith tells me God moves in mysterious ways. This could very well be one of those times. It could be a Bigfoot instead of a bear. Maybe the child just named it the only word he knew. Either way, I'm glad he's safe. Salute to the bear/Bigfoot for lending a hand.
