Not likely. That's not how billionaires operate. With Trump's money you don't trust anyone with any of your secrets, especially a lawyer. Or you will lose everything.

If a billionaire wanted to do something even remotely incriminating then they pay someone, to pay someone, to pay someone, to pay someone to do their dirty work. You use enough proxies so that the lowest person doesn't know who their boss is, and the highest person doesn't even know what the money is for, and its difficult to be legally connected to anything the lowest guy does even if you follow the money.

They always set up reasonable doubt about the true purpose of the originating funds, and claim one of proxies was corrupted by greed if things go south. You know, a fall guy.

I think your description is more like what crime bosses do.

There are many billionaires that would take offense at your description. Many are the heads of highly trusted financial institutions and pride themselves on their openness and fiscal integrity. Their businesses, and therefore their wealth, depend on their integrity.

ALL news organization have anonymous sources. The famous Watergate Washington post reporters that busted Nixon had practically nothing but anonymous sources…one called deep throat who was the second in charge at the FBI.
News organizations have to use anonymous sources or they will be out of business.
Just because he didn’t see the documents with his own eyes means nothing.
The truth in what he reports is based on the source's word.

Do yourself a favor and read up on Jason Leopold, one of the authors of the Buzzfeed story. He is a pathetic joke of a journalist, a coc aine addict who was been caught plagarizing others and, yes, falsifying his sources. He gets fired from his current employers every few years for these antics.

Now the two authors have went on record contradicting one another.

Leopold says he has seen the documents, but who will believe him this time?

The reporter who cried wolf one too many times!

His own partner is contradicting him!!

The media has quite a few people convinced things are "in reverse, bizzaro world"...this sounds the same.
