Thank you Timely. Thank you, Raine. I might post pictures later but I'd rather not just yet.

This was the life Dada and I shared for almost 25 wonderful years:

I miss you, my love.

My thanks to Timely, Raine, Torok, whyamIhere, & WIS.

To close out this thread (in a way), I'm posting three pictures from the past week or so. I've decided not to publish any from the actual day of Dada's funeral, but I'll share one from the night before, and two from the day after.

On the evening of Thursday Jan 17, I had a private visit with her. A final opportunity to see her in this mortal realm and rest my hand on hers one last time.

On Saturday Jan 19, I went up to the cemetery to spend a bit of time there in contemplation and also get some pics of the flower arrangements. The two kitties who had adopted us went along, as they follow me almost everywhere these days. The Tom is especially sensitive to my moods and the day that Dada passed away he cried in that strange way some cats do.
In this pic, the young Tom was inspecting the flowers:

Then a few seconds later, just as I took another pic, he did this:

Yes, he stood up on his hind legs and balanced himself with his tail -- which is rather unusual for cats -- and with his front paws drawn up and in close, he just stood stock-still, staring at the grave. It was almost like he was either praying or saying a silent goodbye.

Then he walked down the pathway a few yards, stopped and waited for me.

I realized it was time to go home for the day. So, I slowly walked down the path, the cats with me.

Thank you for sharing these personal pictures, moments in time with us Mike!

I think Kitty was saying goodbye in his own way.

I made sure my Mom was holding a beautiful flower when she passed. She was a gardener most of her life.

Thank you for sharing so much of yourself and Dada with us through the years!

Not much brings a tear to my eye, I must admit, but this did.
Good luck, fella.

Cats rule. A last inspection and approval of final resting place complete with decorations seems very fitting. And, imho, nothing less than deserved.

Thank you for sharing this with us. You prove the point that cats are family members too. It was my two cats that stood out in the hallway staring at me as their way of informing me that they found my wife as passed. As much as they have been apart of both of our lives part of my wife lived inside of them.

Thank you for sharing such love and beauty with us Mike.

There are no words that can express the emotions that I feel in your sharing this very private, yet heart felt life changing experience.

Just tears, in such loss.

Stay strong and cherish the joyous memories of a life shared with your soul mate. Not many get to celebrate such love.

Cats are very much in tune with us and our emotions, it would be fascinating to hear a narrative of their thoughts.

Mike. Even in this time of sorrow the two of you are still a unit that bring wonder in to this world, my world at least. The love you have transcends all beings, it gives me courage and hope.
The cat broke my heart, in a good way.
May you be gentle to your self.
