Is this really the best technology America can come up with? Can you imagine the conversation you'd have with your boss if you came up with it??
Boss: We need to stop people coming over from Mexico. Give me suggestions on the best way we can do that. It's the 21st century so lets be creative.
Employee: We could build a big wall
Boss: Ok, any way people can get past it?
Employee: Well...you can dig under it, climb over it, break through it with tools from home depot...and obviously we can't stop any drugs with it. And all the people who get here on visa's will still get through.
Boss: Right..and how much will this 'wall' cost?
Employee: About 30billion. Give or take a billion. Plus ongoing maintenance costs every year.
Boss: I think I can see a couple of flaws in your plan there lad...the main one being that that a wall that doesn't stop people isn't actually a wall..is it.

Digging under, climbing over?
Cheapest and most effective way used in the past was to build a moat in front of your wall.
This wall will pay for itself 10 fold

The past you mean like medieval times when they didn't have great medicine or technology, yep it's hard to see what's changed...

care to try again - and ACTUALLY answer my question :
please list the " normal countries " who in 2019 - use " large minefeilds " for border defence
Getting across becomes an "IQ" test. if you are smart enough to get in, ok, you can stay!

Would not the best solution be a combination of physical barriers and other things like drones? I think it makes sense that it would be a valuable tool for the Border Patrol also.

Yeah thanks. I'm staring to research into solar panel powered electric fencing. Having said that - can you pinpoint to a close range where a breach in the fence may be if they use cutters?
