This is sort of inaccurate.

Furloughed employee are not guaranteed back pay, but they do not report to work either. They have always received back pay in the past, but it has to be voted on and passed through Congress just like anything else.

Now for people such as glorious me, I have been deemed "essential" so I do have to report to work and can't take any leave during the shutdown. Doctor's appointment? Go without pay or cancel the appointment. Sick? Too bad. However, I am guaranteed to receive back pay once the shutdown ends.

The question is, how long can we go on paying the bills without a paycheck?

great benefits unbeatable pensions, insider deals you can work for families, contract bids

if you are a Federal worker you are set for life

Insider deals are great, but they get caught, lose those benefits, lose that pension, and go to jail.

Set for life, my azz.
