Also to change the Constitution don't we require a convention of states to do that? I do not think congress alone can alter the Constitution.

Correct. It is the States the must petition for the convention and the States that ratify any changes. All "57" not just Cali and NY.

ETA
This process is deliberate to prevent d'jour laws running minority opinions out or creating power for a small group of people over the country. We must come to consensus on any changes state by state.

There are two methods, Constitutional Convention and supermajorities in Congress. The supermajority route was used to pass the reconstruction acts after the War of Southern Depression.

you people never fail to amuse me, the pure patheticness of believing we are heading towards Socialism, or the Democrats are "Globalists and Socialists"

imagine being that much of a fear monger that you regurgitate reactionary statements such as "socialism and globalism'; in relation to the Democrats, the Democrats are as much of corrupted capitalists statists like the Right is, and as much of nationalists, they just use different wording

Here's some food for thought .... read this and tell me if the USA is not in trouble ...

H.R.25 - To promote freedom, fairness, and economic opportunity by repealing the income tax and other taxes, abolishing the Internal Revenue Service, and enacting a national sales tax to be administered primarily by the States.116th Congress (2019-2020)

It reminds me of the movie Idiocracy. It was supposed to be a comedy, not a documentary.

It's why we really need to limit states max number of representatives at 5 why should California get 53 votes in house ? Just because they let in enormous amounts of illegal immigrants who over the last 30 years has caused the states population to grow.

Impeachment will never make it through the Senate. It might make it through the House.

Getting rid of the electoral college would take ratification from the States.

The same is true with removing Presidential pardon power.

Honestly, I just want the shutdown to end and someone to start fixing infrastructure.

This is what smoking pot does to the new generation that booze did to the old generation of politics.
So really no change at all.

Well as I see it the Democrats indirectly defend ANTIFA which wear the hammer and sickle on their faces and shirts. Now having grown up in the 60's that certainly represented Marxism and still does my book. Now your avatar seems to side with them as you are an Anarchist like ANTIFA. I would whole heartedly expect you to reply as you did. I would much rather fight corrupted capitalists than bow to the likes of your Marxists. Remember as Sir Winston Churchill said and I quote, "The inherent problem with Capitalism is the unequal distribution of wealth. The inherent problem with Socialism/Marxism is the EQUAL distribution of misery."

As an Anarchist you need to dump the black outfit. It represents depression and unheralded laziness. Try harder. Make some kind of success of yourself. You will feel better about yourself and live a better life. Misery does not always love company cause it is just more misery. Find a ladder and climb out of your dark hole.

I just saw on day one of the opening three proposals put forth -1. impeachment of the president, 2. Getting rid of the electoral college 3. getting rid of presidential pardons.

What are the odds these will pass and become law?? i think just taking the traditional constitution and trashing it is unwise and will eventually lead to other , more fundamental changes to national laws to the point that America as is stands will be unrecognizable as a representative republic

What say you ATS do you yea or nay on these three proposals?

Hard to say, I think trying to impeach the president is a waste of time. We've been talking about it for 2 years and we don't have anything concrete yet. Me and most of America now has Mueiller and impeachment fatigue. So much information and breaking news daily that we're numb to it and it doesn't have any weight any longer.

I'm okay with getting rid of the electoral college. I want every vote to count and I want the power taken away from large states with huge cities.

The president should have pardon powers. I don't see a problem with that, why would you want to take it away. Seem's like a shot at Trump for no reason other than it's Trump.
