Totally awesome pics Anzha
Russia might be behind USA and China with some of the latest tech but as with the SU34, SU27, MiG 29, then this beauty, they really do make the most beautiful to the eye planes around

People have been talking about the scream with the new Su-57 01 (first production bird). Here's a good example.

Even the F-35 make snoise. But not if it comes from the right direction compared to wind and terrain....

The F-35 is even louder then the F-16. But even the F-35 can be hidden if it comes from the right direction.

Holy crap that sounds beautiful. Reminds me of the Avro Vulcan howl. Must be those radically redesigned intakes that the production model seems to have.

Some interesting manufacturing shots. But...the real one that's making me scratch my head. Unless their RAM layer is either really, really thin or applied later, uh, I uh, erm, um, don't see it.

Please, point out where I am missing it, please?

Im not sure the Russians have put much faith in RAM coatings.I know they bent over backwards to get crashed samples but maybe they thought there was a better way of getting stealth.

I always imagined a cheaper F-35 without the RAM, perhaps no internal weapons bay either more fuel? It would still lower the overall production cost if they sold like hotcakes right?

Just don't see the SU-57 containing much RAM at all, it should be easily noticeable, even the J-20 it's clearly visible.

If I were the Russians, I would not put my good coating on until a serious conflict emerged.

Otherwise, the West gets a chance to see and possibly analyze said coating.

I doubt you would see the versions they keep locked away.

The problem with that is that your ground crews don't have the experience working with the coatings when they really need it.

The US kept the F117 dark for over a decade.

The bases where the top secret birds are kept have all the necessary experience. Probably in the Urals somewhere.

If the US can keep a whole bird secret, I think the Russians can keep a coating secret.

You're talking about two completely different things. The F-117s never flew without their coatings applied. Stealth coatings used on US aircraft are still secret, even though they're flying around every day. You can't just fly a plane around, and then slap a coating on it when a war starts, and expect your ground crews to know how to handle it, how to repair it, and how to apply it. There's a learning curve involved, and they need experience handling it.

You're still talking about two different things. How do you think they get the experience? It doesn't come out of the blue. They fly them with the coatings on. They fix them, they strip them, they reapply them. That means the coatings are applied.

FFS.

You have a few airframes in a place where the West can see and photograph them. These are the show ponies.

You have your RAM coated battle force back in the Urals. All the peeps at this location know how to apply the coatings because all of these battle ready craft have the coating.

Keeping it secret is important.

You're right, FFS.

You don't learn anything about the RAM by seeing it flying it around. The F-117 coatings, with the exception of the 1999 coating is still one of the best kept secrets out there. And they flew around all over the world after coming out, with their coatings on. You keep reflectors on to hide the actual RCS. The B-2, F-22, and F-35 coatings are still very closely held secrets, and still work well. Just having the coating applied doesn't tell your adversary anything.
