Well, one would certainly hope so.
However, if they're not?? What then? This is not a good thing. This is tantamount to obstruction of justice on the part of the man who is, supposedly, after just that.
If it isn't, what is it?

LOL I don't think that's the case.
The phones aren't evidence. The texts are, and, like I said, they're not erased from server just bacause the phones were reset to factory specs and reissued. But I do believe that you believe though. Sad.
What word would you use to define someone like yourself, who believes that everything that could possibly happen is just the deep state duping us?

Just because the text messages in question have been deleted from the phones, that doesn't mean that there is no record of them elsewhere. They should still exist on the server, and perhaps in some IG file, somewhere too.
So then we got all of Hillary’s deleted subpoenaed emails right?

The FBI has salvaged work and personal emails thought to have been deleted from the private server Hillary Clinton used while she was secretary of state
………
While the discovery of the deleted mails on Clinton's server is a new development, it is largely incremental. Computer analysts have always expected that the FBI's technical experts would likely be able to recover the information they sought from Clinton's server.
The FBI has been able to recover deleted emails from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's personal server,
…
The FBI is investigating the configuration of that server as well as whether sensitive information ever passed through her private inbox while she served as secretary of state.
It is unclear how many deleted emails the FBI has been able to find. The IT firm Clinton hired to oversee the server after she left the State Department, Platte River Networks, said last month that it was "highly likely" a backup copy of the server was made. And an official speaking to The New York Times said the emails had not been difficult to recover.
“SCO’s Records Officer told the OIG that as part of the office’s records retention procedure, the officer reviewed Strzok’s DOJ issued iPhone after he returned it to the SCO and determined it contained no substantive text messages,” the OIG report said in stating that Strzok’s phone had been “reset to factory settings,” which means it was completely wiped of all of its data. Additionally, the SCO claimed it “was unable to locate the iPhone previously assigned to Page.” When the phone was finally found, it too had all of its data deleted and was reset to factory settings, according to the report.

The phones were kept. They were just deleted as well as kept. Why would you delete it when the phone is still evidence?
Strzok’s Phone Was Wiped and Re-Issued by FBI
...
The OIG report states that the cellphones issued by the special counsel Robert Mueller’s office to Strzok and Page were reset after the two were removed from the probe, following the revelation they had exchanged anti-Trump texts during the 2016 presidential race.
...
“Specifically, the OIG’s Cyber Investigations Office was asked to attempt recovery of these missing text message for the referenced period from FBI issued mobile devices issued to Strzok and Page.”
Horowitz added, “The OIG forensically recovered thousands of text messages from FBI mobile devices issued to Strzok and Page through its multiple extraction efforts. Approximately 9,311 text messages were recovered from Strzok’s S5 (Samsung),” while, “Approximately 10,760 text messages were recovered from Page’s S5.”
A former top special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation confirms that FBI agents Peter Strzok and Lisa Page were issued official FBI cell phones and that their phone records are impossible to lose or disappear.
The inspector general can seize their cell phone data pursuant to mandatory agreements signed by Strzok and Page that preserves the information exchanged on their government-issued devices.

SO? The phone records and data are on the FBI server. They recovered all the missing texts and more.
