Typical Intel grandstanding that comes out of CES every January.
Marketing perception tactics to help sell more chips.
Ignoring FB, I was working on this Ai chip technology 3.5 yrs ago. They've had the technology for awhile now but waiting for the right marketing opportunity to help compensate for their 10nm mfg issues. The HW/SW technology is so incredibly complex these days it has to be released in phases so other companies can help with the testing and then released to guinea pigs, err I mean the general public.

Often when big hi-tech companies make an announcement like this especially coming out of CES it means the 'release product' is 1-2 years out and sometimes further out or flat out cancelled. Ai has become a marketing term to instill excitement on public perception and the real or actual technology definition has been lost. Perception sells, reality does not. Exciting never the less.
