Our Constitutional Republic is bigger and stronger than that.... Bigger and stronger than the critters mismanaging it. Getting rid of the rats will only make us stronger... And better.

In the end, yes, it will likely make us better and stronger. But how about between now and the end?

Just think about all the turmoil that occurs any time a budget isn't passed on time. If there's no House while new elections are held, that's an automatic shutdown. All financial bills must originate in the House. Add to that no money for the FBI... no money for the military... no money for Social Security and Welfare once the funds are completely gone... you're looking at chaos. Now, throw in the political furor already going on, and you're looking at self-destruction.

And how many of our enemies would use that time period to attack? 'Muh Russia' could become real.

Sometimes it's best to hold the last cannon...

Even if I believe Trump wants the best for the nation, what about those who come after Trump? What's to stop his successors from using those same politics against us?

That is my biggest concern. There needs to be some serious changes to the FBI and DoJ once this is all settled. I hope Trump realizes that and fixes it. Notice I said "hope," not "will."

Trump needs to fix the system so it can no longer be gamed against us... Not perpetuate and escalate the politics.

You make excellent points which I do not want to minimize. I do think things will have to get worse before they get better. But managing the fallout and repercussions and steering us onto the right path is just part of the job that needs to be done.

Ripping off the bandage is gonna be painful... But it's better than letting the wound fester and turn gangrene.

Maybe there's something to be said for removing the bandage slowly and methodically -- "there is a time and season for every thing under heaven" -- but it must be done.

That sounds like a decent, if incomplete, description of "charisma." Charisma is one of the first requirements to being elected to a national office.

In other words, the same could be said for any President (heck, any serious candidate) in my lifetime.

I like to use a similar example of a splinter... better to lance the wound and dig it out than to let it fester out on its own. But yeah, same thinking process.

Right but that is not the issue. It was a given by the way he made the statement that when he can release the documents he wasn't going too , unless the Dems did his bidding . Which is complete BS on his part and not the transparency and justice he was promising.

He clearly made the statement now as rhetoric and until he made that statement I was pretty confident the Mueller investigation was a complete BS political hit job with no evidence of any wrong doing.

Now with the timing and wording of his tweet and threat I'm not so sure that Mueller doesn't have something on him any longer. It appears to me he is trying to tell and threaten the deep state if you expose me I expose you. In other words he is no different than the rest and compromised.

Not looking good any way you slice that threat and tweet IMO.

It does all sound very complicated. Orange man needs to tip toe and carry a huge (yuge?) stick. If it were me I would have naively released it all on day one, well, justice, but these types of folks know too much and perhaps understand the weight of it all much better. We can only hope that in the end justice prevails and the republic is made stronger for liberty. Sounds corny, but deep down that is all what the world wants.

With Bob Mueller indicting Cohen for "Lying To Congress" today, it does look like a political hit-job, as you call it. No Americans have been arrested for colluding with Russia. A 1st year Prosecutor can indict someone for lying to Congress.

Who will be the "dead man switch"? Hoping beyond hope it doesn't come to that...
