www.axios.com...

Northeastern Australia is facing an unprecedented wildfire situation and all-time record heat, with numerous milestones eclipsed during the past week in parts of Queensland. The extreme weather event marks the first time that Queensland's fire danger has been rated as "catastrophic," which is the highest threat level on their scale.

Why it matters: The heat is coming at what is not typically the warmest time of year in northeastern Queensland. More intense and longer-lasting heat waves are one of the clearest effects of a warming planet due largely to human emissions of greenhouse gases.

The extreme weather event marks the first time that Queensland's fire danger has been rated as "catastrophic," which is the highest threat level on their scale.

Threat level: Nearly 140 wildfires are burning in Queensland amid the unprecedented heat. In Australia, as in the U.S., climate change is leading to an uptick in wildfires.

but yeah "its cold where I live so climate change aint real!"

keep sticking your head in the sand people. The world is literally burning to the ground.

Since you can't seem to ever refute my posts to you or the articles or the facts or anything else regarding your careful research into AGW.

There are no facts in this debate, except that the climate is changing. Whats up for debate is whether or not humans are speeding up the process. Okay, my wording was off. Over 90% of scientists will not deny that climate change is being accelerated by mankind. Prove that wrong.

Do you believe that CFCs deplete the ozone?

You gotta watch those "Sand people" comments. As we all know; "Sand people frighten very easily, but come back in greater numbers"

We are in an intermitted warming phase of an ice age (also called an interglacial period). This has happened before during the end of the Bronze Age, and after the recent Dark Ages. The warming period is usually stopped or delayed by an environmental event (ie impact event, volcano event, whatever caused the Snowball Earth event) point is stop thinking that humans are so powerful a being that we can destroy an entire planet in less than a century.

Yes the Earth’s climate is changing, and instead of being stupid about it, thinking that we can somehow stabilize it, we should instead be thinking about how do we adapt to the new environment that we are living in.

Just so you know..50 miles south west of Chicago is not the globe, it does not represent the globe, it means nothing.

It snowed though! Proof that the climate is getting colder!

Just for fun everyone should go look at the Earth during the Eemian interglacial period. Average temperatures were believes to be 1-2 degree Celsius hotter then today, and the seas were believed to be 6-9 meters higher then today. So I guess we can blame humans for that too since it happened around 120,000 years ago.

Just for fun it should also be noted somewhere by someone that believes humans are to blame for all this "HOT" we are suffering; that we are currently near the end of the Holocene interglacial period and a cooling period should follow. So "FEAR -UP boys and girls and what-evers since wasting time playing the blame game is only going to slow down human adaptations for the up coming glacial period.

this is correct, we 'SHOULD' be cooling at hte moment according to the Milankovitch cycles, and yet...we are not. We are getting warmer and warmer and warmer and warmer, EXACTLY as the climate scientists predicted.

so your predictions about getting cooler have utterly failed, hwile the predictions from climate scientists about getting warmer have turned out to be correct!

why you cling to failed predictions I cannot say.

Look at the graph.

Study the graph.

What comes next?

Huh, imagine that ... record cold doesn't debunk MMGW, but every summer when someone has record warmth somewhere, it totally proves it.

Even though you are being sarcastic, this is one of the most lucid comments I've seen on the subject.

That is a graph of anomalies, not temperature increases. I am assuming you are well aware of that.

What the graph purports to say is that temp anomalies are increasing.

Just a thought. Are the anomalies increasing or are we measuring more and more across the globe.

Just think of the number of weather stations now as say, in 1850 when the graph starts.

Why no earlier data, because there was no earlier reliable data.

So we are catching more anomalies in the act of being anomalies but really, are there more?

I've come to the conclusion that I really don't care if it's real or not. The legacy of human history has been one of advancing our technology to make the world easier to live in. We will adapt to whatever comes next, though it may be painful (or not).

What we should not do is shoot ourselves in the foot by damaging our energy production.

What we *should* do is continue to observe and learn.

The Graph that pheonix358 put up is good enough model for you to use. So let's talk about the spike in CO2 that we see for the today amounts;
If you look at the charts it only shows the total amount of trapped CO2 that has been discovered in the ice pack. What it does not show in how much CO2 was present during those times in history, only the amount that was trapped in the ice. What we see in the current CO2 amounts is real time in the air amounts, and not what is going to be located in the ice packs in the future. With this in mind what we can extrapolate from the chart is that we have already started a cooling cycle.

Even though temperatures have been reading higher then normal, it should be understood that these global temperatures have only recently been recordable and that alone could explain the temperature increases that are being reported. What everyone should be concerned with, if we want to go crazy with weather doom and gloom, is that the global wind speeds have been going down while wind gusts have been going up. This trend has more to do with the felt weather patterns we are seeing than that made up idea of human created climate change.

Yes, you did it. That is the right answer.

Yes, walls of ice. Winter is coming. We only learn these things via TV shows and that could be a thread on its own.

The ice she is a returning ... slowly.

Slippery on the way in this morning but say'n 51 for Saturday. It's weather. In 1977 I bought my first Harley at the end of season sale. That Christmas 20 of us went riding because it was 70 in Mid Michigan. Easter 1978 we were snowed in. Same 3 years ago so it it Ground Hog Day weather or just weather..

Ummm... it's 30 degrees here right now. Winter is already here. Calendars be damned.

I need to call my lawyer. I'm filing breach of contract against Al Gore. He promised it would be warmer than this by now, dammit!

Yup, it is debunked because its cold at your house.

OK sure

exactly, it only works that way when it's hot or we have a storm.
