Night Star
Thank you soooo much! And I now have some great news to report: I was able to get out of bed today, with help from the Rehab Sister. ie, she's a
physiotherapist. And yes, there is a trick to getting out of bed after spinal surgery. Won't go into details, but the key is I absolutely must not sit
up and just plonk both feet on the floor.
In about three weeks I'll be able to sit normally but till then I'm limited to standing and lying down. But that's ok. The time will pass. The great
thing is that I don't need my crutches at all now! It's just miraculous compared to how I was just a few days ago.
The pain from the op is slowly fading, my walking is fine -- just slow and careful -- and so my doc here told me a short while ago that I can go home
tomorrow! Yes, I don't even need to go and spend some time in a rehab center. I can literally get a ride straight home by ambulance tomorrow before
noon!!
WOOT!!
I will still need to lie around for 3 weeks, not lift heavy weights and not sit, but I'll be home and have friends there who can help as needed. So
I'm really happy, because there is a slight chance I might be able to get Dada home for Christmas and New Year.
That's now my goal: follow my docs' advice and get myself fit again, meanwhile consult with her docs to see if we can swing it to get her home for the
festive season. If they say she needs moretime then ok, I will have to change my goal for some time in the New Year. But I'll keep hoping!
