Now, it doesn't get crazier than that. We had all sorts, increased risks of asteroids hitting the earth, alien invasion. The entire city of London decamping to Brussels...The economy going into recession.

On the BBC pretty much every positive story has been reported as "In spite of Brexit" while every negative one was "Because of Brexit"


Don't play coy, you watch the same (or similar) news to us This is exactly the same "Sky is falling" stuff trotted out during the Scottish indy ref.

Now we are having rubbish about no medicine, no food, no fuel no...well, no nothing.

Get a grip, if, and its a big if, we have trouble getting hold of something that can't be made here, it isn't because we voted to leave the EU, it will be because during the last 2 years our remainer MP's have wasted all their time trying to fiddle a way to stay in the EU rather than, ooh, say getting hold of the USA or India and saying, hey, how about we lower the import tariffs on medical drugs once we get out of the EU."

Sadly, to the afflicted who are too frightened of any future a little bit different to what they have now, they can't see the truth of what lies before them. You were told Brexit was big, bad and scary and you believed it. Then you sought not to question why your elected representatives were trying to ignore the will of the people, instead you just nodded dumbly as they told you "Nanny knows best" and now here we are.

Brexit isn't the reason for any problems that might occur. Idiot remainers who keep on trying to fight lost battles instead of getting on with their damn jobs are the sole reason.

I may have some concerns regarding immigration but it most definitely wasn't the main reason I voted to come out of the EU, and the same applies to the vast majority of other people I know who voted for Brexit.

The sick man of Europe...I remember that, I also remember 3 day weeks. Much of the population believes it was all about unions striking because they got power mad and greedy, whereas the truth of it was it was in a large part down to a lack of investment in our manufacturing sector by greedy bosses.


the hammer didn't truly fall on UK manufacturing until EEC rules started to bite in terms of how governments approached procurement and subsidy of certain industries, That's when most of our manufacturing was trashed by Maggie and her mates.

I don't think you can realistically argue against MAD keeping the peace in the cold war though. if one side or the other thought they could wipe out the other lot with less than total losses in return, we probably would have had WW3 by now, so I reject that.

To be fair, I could, just about see that these days we ought to be safe enough without Trident. We have worked out all the designs for our bombs over the years, so it ought to be feasable to produce a few in a shortish time if the world started getting a bit iffy again...Hell, if Steptoe ever gets elected there's no point having the things anyway as he already said he would never launch, so their deterrent value is zero

the whole rest of your post isn't an argument against Brexit, in a lot of ways its an argument for it, because membership of the eu prohibits us from electing a government who can lower vat on household fuel to help the poorest among us live through the winter for one thing.

Why didn't you quote my whole statement regarding trident? I said clearly that I felt we are probably safe enough these days not to need it's deterrence.
I do think it is a monumentally stupid thing for the leader of the country to commit to spending a hundred billion on something that he has stated he will never use.

Deterrence isn't about "revenge" or similar it's about a potential enemy KNOWING that should they attack the UK they will receive devastating riposte that would make their initial attack bloody pointless....The idea being NO ONE LAUNCHES. Do you get it now?
