This is a criminal matter of people entering the state illegally and as such should be dealt with as a criminal matter in the way it always has been.

For me when you start using the military for matters of law enforcement domestically I start to see a case for calling it martial law.

They are illegal aliens. Or will be when they step foot on American soil.

As much as the left in this country want it to be, they are not citizens of the United States.

So not under domestic law, but a national security issue.

There would be severe consequences to the US if Trump ordered them shot. And that's assuming the military would follow such an order in the first place (and that they would violate posse comitatus to be armed to do it).

15,000 troops are not logistics support. Pretty much the only legal action they can do is to contain the caravan and help them apply for asylum.

Or, hey maybe it's Jade Helm part 2? The same people supporting this use of troops were scared Obama was going to use them this way.

Now you're just being stupid. But hopefully just a troll.

No one is going to shoot unarmed civilians. No one is going to order anyone to shoot unarmed civilians.

What they can, should and will do, is set up barriers and blocking positions so these people cannot enter the US. They will provide surveillance and logistical support to the border patrol.

They will probably funnel the mobs to some of the over 300 official points of entry where they can get in line and apply to enter and most likely get denied.

So why use the military if the goal is to just keep them comfortable and help them fill out paperwork?

Also, the US has very few options to deny asylum. According to the treaties we have, the first stable country they enter, is where they take asylum. Since Mexico is not stable by most definitions, the US is it.

Maybe we shouldn't have destabilized all those Central America countries in the past?
