My friend,
It is probably best you don't pretend to know what you are talking about. Firstly, how electromagnetic radiation of the x-ray wavelength interacts with atoms of different materials. The density of a metal wire of that gauge would show easily on x-ray, and not because of the rubber insulation around it which an x-ray would pass through like skin on a bone. This is not a contrast issue either. Those wires simply are not connected to anything.
Secondly, the wire, even if stripped and magically not showing in the x-ray, doesn't lead to anything substantial in the clock. It stops behind the simple LED display, and not even the portion of the display that accepts inputs.
Thirdly, the clock is only powered by a 3 volt cell battery. It can't produce enough current to heat a wire passing through a heat sensitive substance, especially a wire of that gauge. The x-ray shows a single wire passing all the way through, some of it coiled, some uncoiled, and that simply doesn't do anything at all.
This is a purely fake bomb, and its as if someone knew it was going to be x-rayed and the x-ray images leaked to the media for effect.

Whilst the density of the metal pipe magically becomes transparent?
HINT - the same reason you can see through the pipe is the same reason you can not see the stripped metal wires.
The bombs seized Wednesday were about six inches long and packed with powder and broken glass, according to a law enforcement official who viewed X-ray images. The official said the devices were made from PVC pipe and covered with black tape.
