right... but walking into the US and seeking legal help isn't exactly legal right. just like all those irish and italians did when they flooded the new york harbors without any documentation at all.

Sorry, stop lying, they went to a legal port of Entry and I have the actual signature of my relative who came to America. American Dream is not, and has never been, the idea that all human beings have a right to America. What do you think would happen if 7 billion people moved to America tomorrow?

That's not the point.

People fled to the US for a reason, and were welcomed with open arms and the US knew they were coming and ready to let them integrate. This is not the case today, clearly since people think the USA has an identity, but when I can walk from one side of New York, NY or Austin, TX and see several different ethnicities thriving what does that tell me?

The American dream was built off the back of fleeing oppression, and has been fine tuned to accommodate those who are willing to integrate. If you don't, good bye! just like most western societies, but guess what, nationalism has gone hay wire lately, it's created something called xenophobia.

My grandfather was thrown on a boat to NY, and ended up in Halifax after WW2 without anything but he was 'meeting' someone, he was a early teen. Here I am today, 3 uncles, 2 aunts, and a full family. He didn't do it 'the right way'. He was taken in an granted help and integrated properly.

They won't. But if you knew the history of NATO, and UN, and post WW2 world, you'd know why the US abandoning the world so suddenly is a bad thing for everyone.

It's fine if people want vote to be more 'nationalistic' and closed off to the world, but don't expect to not have consequences from the troubles you made, deal with them.
So many voting US citizens don't realize how much sway they have on the world stage, all for what? To keep your 'identity' what's that? Burgers, apple pie, and military might? Might as well throw democracy and justice out the window since it's being undermined everyday since you all went tribal on each other.

Stop the rhetoric, nothing is being abandoned and we have had immigration laws for a long time.

Why won't you answer, 7 billion people have the right to be here, so it's ok for them all to show up tomorrow right?

Immigration laws such as what?
Go back not even 70 years ago and people didn't even need immigration papers to enter a port city.

Also I never said 7 billion people have a right to be there. I said if people wanted in bad enough they'd find a way, otherwise good bye, go back home.

You're going in circles here.
Listen, I get it, you don't want little Juan and his father coming from say, Ecuador because of this and that. You'd rather keep Muhammad down at the sub shop, and Joe down at the deli, and Bob at the corner store the way it is, even those they are all either decadents of immigrants or immigrants themselves.

Sorry you are racist and have these views. Juan and Muhammad are welcome to do it the legal way, you trying to paint me as anti immigrant when my wife is a NON CITIZEN 1st generation immigrant just makes you look a fool. She is also not white, oops on your race card play.

There are no circles, only you refusing to answer questions you don't like and admitting you have no clue whatsoever about immigration laws. Fact, immigration laws go back to the 1800s.

That’s a good point. It is rather them whom are anti-immigrant because they defend tactics that put legal immigrants in peril and make a mockery of those who did it the proper way. They’re hiding behind platitudes.

My sister in law came here illegally and lives in Cali, she is legal now. She is seeing every day the harm of illegal immigration and is now a Trump supporter and wants immigration reform even if it means her parents never make it to America because she is so worried about her children's future in America.

They don't realize they are shallow virtue-signalers. it's hard to comprehend that kind of self-deception. When they lose debates--which is a forgone conclusion--the mask drops and they reveal how ugly-minded and small they really are and the "projection" is laid bare. What was done to Kanye is just one example out of thousands. It's truly some form of mental disease.

I'm for immigration, obviously my points are going in one ear and out the other since you are calling me a racist now.

Also immigration papers weren't really a thing until 1918, even then it was just a passport needed.

Ever heard of the term wop? People think it means 'without papers' for italians in the early 1900s, it doesn't since you didn't need any to get into the country, like my grandfather did, he just got on a boat and away he went.

And I don't care if your wife is this or that, fact is she's an immigrant, great, just like the people I was stereotyping based off how much of a melting pot the US is because of immigration. And little Juan and his father have every right to WALK into the US or fly, or take a boat, and seek assistance to become a citizen. That is the point I have been pushing all these posts, but you're too hell set on finding a flaw in my logic, THAT I AM FOR IMMIGRATION, LEGALLY. Just go back and re-read my posts and I have said time and time again that people need to get in and become a citizen or integrate or go home, easy.

Not everyone has the support or fiances to immigrate like people from some places, but does that mean they should be turned away if they want to immigrate?

Cannot get Any More Nationalist than This ......

My country, ’tis of Thee,
Sweet Land of Liberty
Of thee I sing;
Land where my fathers died,
Land of the pilgrims’ pride,
From every mountain side
Let Freedom ring.

My native country, thee,
Land of the noble free,
Thy name I love;
I love thy rocks and rills,
Thy woods and templed hills,
My heart with rapture thrills
Like that above.

Let music swell the breeze,
And ring from all the trees
Sweet Freedom’s song;
Let mortal tongues awake;
Let all that breathe partake;
Let rocks their silence break,
The sound prolong.

Our fathers’ God to Thee,
Author of Liberty,
To thee we sing,
Long may our land be bright
With Freedom’s holy light,
Protect us by thy might
Great God, our King.

Our glorious Land to-day,
‘Neath Education’s sway,
Soars upward still.
Its hills of learning fair,
Whose bounties all may share,
behold them everywhere
On vale and hill!

Thy safeguard, Liberty,
The school shall ever be,
Our Nation’s pride!
No tyrant hand shall smite,
While with encircling might
All here are taught the Right
With Truth allied.

Beneath Heaven’s gracious will
The stars of progress still
Our course do sway;
In unity sublime
To broader heights we climb,
Triumphant over Time,
God speeds our way!

Grand birthright of our sires,
Our altars and our fires
Keep we still pure!
Our starry flag unfurled,
The hope of all the world,
In peace and light impearled,
God hold secure!

America , Love it or Shut the Fook Up .............

Now your last statement was very nationalist. The other stuff is patriotic.

If your not smart enough to understand sometimes it's better to not talk.

Just another way to understand this if Orwell, the founders, or classical liberalism didn't really bring a eureka moment.

Patriotism is loving the country, where it came from, and all its mistakes and people.

Nationalism is creating a group of people who love America more than another group or groups and therefore superior and even more deserving of special rights like policy control.

It is also closely related to nativism.

America isn't perfect. I love that.

The important thing that makes America great is freedom. Lunatics more committed to a party than to America and the reality of its majority of independents are not patriotic.

Patriotism is being proud.

Nationalism is being embarrassed America isn't how you want it.

Nazi style nationalism is bad. But that is like saying the military is bad because it can be used to control the population by a dictator. Cops have shot innocent people, so they are all bad and need to be done away with.

Once you understand the context of Einstein's quote it becomes irrelevant.

Stop making up your own definitions. Originally Patriotism and Nationalism were synonyms and had the exact same meaning.

Nationalism is putting your country before other countries.

nationalism noun
na·tion·al·ism | ˈnash-nə-ˌli-zəm, ˈna-shə-nə-ˌli-zəm
Definition of nationalism
1 : loyalty and devotion to a nation
especially : a sense of national consciousness (see CONSCIOUSNESS sense 1c) exalting one nation above all others and placing primary emphasis on promotion of its culture and interests as opposed to those of other nations or supranational groups

patriotism noun
pa·tri·ot·ism | ˈpā-trē-ə-ˌti-zəm, chiefly British ˈpa-
Definition of patriotism
: love for or devotion to one's country

So question. Do you want to promote American interests or do you think we should be promoting the interests of China over America?

It says right in the definition that if you are a nationalist you have a superiority complex over other nations.

The word has a meaning and a literal definition, but it also has a sinister history tied to it as well.
