If you want affordable healthcare get the GD state out of it.

Medicaid,medicare.

The effing US government is the largest single insurer.

The problem is it is all based on insurance prices...That all would need to be built from the ground up in a new system where it is not based on profit as it is now.

Well if that doesn't get his followers on the universal healthcare bandwagon I don't know what will.

Medicare for all is BS. Just like single payer is BS everywhere it is 'working'. We're already 20T in debt. Medicare for all would triple that in a ten year period. Just ask new york.

20 T? You might be better off assigning value for money to those expenditures. I'm thinking that quality of life isn't getting quite the same emphasis as...I donno...anything coming from K Street?
And I say that as somebody who paid $36 out-of-pocket to be cured of cancer. Parking fees at the oncology centre, eh?

Our family is out $10K before insurance kicks in a 100%, with deductibles so high we never meet them before insurance pays anything at all. Warren Buffet (indirectly) provides the insurance for about $4K a year on us. He has to money to give employees better benefits, but would rather have it for himself. So even if our taxes were to increase by $4K yearly, we would come out ahead. Way ahead, considering we could actually go to the doctor when needed, rather than putting it off since we always have to pay out of pocket for health treatment.

Lol. 70% of Americans support something they likely know nothing about.... I say that because pollings have shown:

37% of Anericand can't name a single right protected by the 1st amendment.

1 out of 3 Americans can't name a single branch of government.

53% of Americans believe the constitution affords undocumented immigrants NO RIGHTS AT ALL.

In 2014, polls showed nearly 60% of Americans didn't know which party controlled the Senate/House.

That same 2014 poll found that around 70% of Americans didnt know a 2/3s vote of both House and Senate could override a presidential veto.

Yet, polls have shown 61% have stated "significant changes" are needed in the fundamental “design and structure” of the U.S. government to make it work in current times.

Good times. I love being ruled by a mob of low information voters. An epistocracy is sounding more and more viable as the years go by....

You can blame everyone on this. Obamacare was known to fail before Obama left office and they knew this as they signed it, but it got him two terms. Insurance companies sets their prices...its all funny money as they over charge and then pay themselves. The Government looks at those hugely inflated prices and says we will only pay 65% while the patient will pay up to 20% and the Doctor takes a hit on the remainder.

In the end the insurance company still gets huge profits and that is what would kill America to try and pay their funny money bill while NO one in Congress wants to touch any of this on both sides. Obamacare wasn't even a Band-Aid...

The kicker is the person without insurance gets the full funny money bill, no deductions in the least. How stupid this all gets is I had a MRI in the Hospital and the bill was 25,000 dollar which the insurance paid 18,000 for it with much of that 18,000 going right back into their own pockets. The same MRI, same technician as an out patient it cost 4,500...still extremely inflated, but not 25,000. If I didn't have insurance I would have gotten a 30,000 bill in the mail.

Even at a price of 1 million for a MRI machine it doesn't take very long to be pure profit if you are doing 10 to 20 or more patients per day, and if it all wasn't based on huge profits an MRI would be extremely cheap if all you were trying to do is pay for itself over XX number of years.

I am retired military and have a fantastic medical plan with my work, so my medical is basically free to me, but when I stay in the hospital for 6 days and then I'm on treatment for 3 month with 5 MRIs and the total bill was well over 500k this is what the Government just can not afford when you times this by 330 million people that at any given time they can be in the same boat. The bottom line, in another country this would have cost 50k, not 500k and if we are talking 5 trillion at todays prices we need to get that down to 500 billion which then it would be doable.

I've always wondered why the taxpayer funded health care for senators and representatives can't be extended to everyone.

You can't vote Libertarian and then advocate for the government to absolutely control 6% of the entire economy by turning it into a complete monopoly.

The point is that the government got us into this mess with healthcare laws and loopholes and that they already spend a trillion dollars a year on healthcare. It's not entirely about spending more money...it's about making the system more efficient.

Healthcare is about 11.5% of Canada's gross domestic product for that year and was averaging about $6k per person per year.

I'm not saying we need to copy Canada or anything. We already have medicaid and medicare. We just need a system where people get the healthcare that they need when they need it. The Pre existing condition clause in Obama care was one thing we need. Trumps last orders on Drugs are another thing (essentially making it easier for us to get generic drugs which are way cheaper).

Another thing to consider that if we did do a medicare for all or somethign like that...it's basic. Many americans would want to spend more on better Insurance and healthcare. Many employers would offer additional plans for their employees.

This is a bad idea all around. First I strongly believe so called death panels would be formed. You would have groups of appointed people deciding if you get treatment or not. I have Russian patients who told me that after a certain age an Ambulance would not come for you. For God's sakes people WHEN SOMETHING SOUNDS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT USUALLY IS!!!
One way or the other you will be working for healthcare. Socialized medical you will be taxed to death with no choices. The way it is now you decide how much coverage you need and parameters that go with it. Eat organic, exercise and live a healthier life style and take the higher deductible. Nothing in life is free and I like to make my own decisions. Socialized medicine and you are at the mercy of government. WHEN HAS GOVERNMENT EVER RUN ANYTHING CORRECTLY!!

You are 100% correct!! Bravo!!! Our founding fathers had the same concerns about the masses educated enough to make informed decisions. There is no difference between electioneering using quarts of whisky or promising entitlements to ignorant masses. Makes you wonder does it not?

The "Socialized Medicare For All" that Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and Pete Buttigieg advocate, is becoming a HORROR SHOW in the United Kingdom. Doctors will soon be able to deny care to those who aren't "politically correct". REALLY!

Err....no it isn't far from it.

Sure, there are problems but on the whole it is working quite fine thank you.

Unfortunately there are those who choose to use and exaggerate the NHS in order to pursue their political agenda's.

No doctors can withhold non emergency treatment to people who are abusive. Exact same as private doctors can.
