Space based offensive and defensive weapons platforms are the military future.

What good is a nuclear arsenal, nuclear armed ships, subs, bombers etc if they can be neutralized from space? Then annihilate the enemy before he can figure out why his attack failed.

We have spent trillions off the books already.

WTF have leftists got to do with your orange god pulling out of nuclear treaties ?

Is it still a treaty when only one side is abiding it?

Exactly!

If Trump really wanted a war with Russia, the simple way to do so would be to add Ukraine to NATO and set up the aegis ashore BMD system there. THAT would cause a war.

Absolutely not, however throwing the towel in is no way to solve the issue. Perhaps trump and Putin should go horseback riding together and sip Devonshire tea instead.

About 5 years of asking them to stop resulted in them making a new nuclear cruise missile.

Seems like 'negotiations' didn't go so well.

So what, we just suck it up and say bad bad Russia, you keep doing you and we'll sit here like fools and follow the treaty.

Nope!

makes a lot of sense. after all why follow and have a treaty that the other side is violating?

We're not talking about a treaty to save some wild woodducks or something, this is nuclear weapons which I would think deserve a lot more diplomacy than just tearing up a treaty. I guess we just have to wait for more details. Any negative news about nukes makes me nervous as I daresay it does to anyone born pre-1980.

With technology and multiple warhead nukes, I think the treaty no longer matters anyways.
Russia and the USA along with other countries have more than enough to wipe out the world....

The better treaty would not be a reduction but the complete elimination of them.
But bloodthirsty humans being what they are, it will never happen.

It is not a matter of if, but when they will be used on a massive scale.

They should go bareback.

And I'm not talking about saddles either.

The question is who would pitch? (In the US/Russian officials charity baseball game of course!🤔😉)

My guess for this decision to be made has to do with the testing of Russias nuclear powered cruise missile. And I don’t think this is a wise move. Considering they already have more warheads than we do and have better rocket engines than we do. Hence us using Russian made rocket engines on most of our rockets.

Lol what the hell are you talking about...geez

The problem is I don’t think that true complete nuclear disarmament could ever work in the real world. You would have to have a truly international monitoring force that had fangs and could actually force inspections and even punish nations trying to skirt or subvert the agreements. The technology is out of the bottle and nearly any developed nation could have a nuclear weapons capibility just look at the unofficial nuclear powers like Israel. Also consider nations like Japan that have sworn off nukes but they have a level of technology to where if they wanted to they could have a deliverable nuclear weapon in 6 months or less from the word go. I personally think that complete denuclearization is a phantasy and a pipe dream and believe it or not their are weapons worse than nukes that could step in to fill there role. I’d much rather have nukes sitting in silos on standby than more nations playing with BW/CW. At least nukes are a known evil.

Wait, what? I thought some of y'all wanted him to be "tougher" on Russia? There was sky-screaming for just such a thing. Now you're saying he's ramping up the Cold War?

Should've let him approach Russia diplomatically in the first place like he was trying to do. All this would've been much easier and we could've got the terroists the hell out of Syria.

Why are so many of you Americans wanting war, I'm starting to think all these War movies produced out of Hollywood have some of you romanticizing the notion.

War isn't fun or nice it's hell.

Jezus Jumping Kee-Rist!

The leftists wanted the US to go to war with Russia in 2016 because of Facebook memes and "muh election", but when Russia violates a nuclear treaty, everyone wants peace?

Come on DB, "the left wanted war with Russia", seriously?.
I know you guys love to throw shade at the left to see what sticks(all day, every day, truly mind blowing displays of twisted logic, wild speculation and outright fan fiction. Can even be entertaining at times), but even you would have to admit that this time you've jumped the shark!

Anyway im sure this is all yet another storm in a teacup but I have to admit that Trumps brash "negotiating" style, whilst effective in certain situations, in this case makes me kinda nervous.

Its scary to see nuclear policy used as a political dildo and while many here oddly seem to have complete trust and faith in Trump, I can see this getting out of control and with nukes you only get one chance.

As a non American im generally not bothered one way or the other about Trump(apart from the ubiquitous ATS Trump worship)but obviously this is an area that involves all of us(like we had a choice!), and us innocent bystanders really don't want to end up as Trump and Putin's collateral damage.
