And just to be clear -- I have never listened to or followed Warren.

I know she's a Democrat, but that's all I know about her.

I'm interested in the "real" Facts of Uber Hyped stories.

Bustamante (the DNA expert) says the pure Native American ancestry appears in the range of 6 to 10 generations ago. Which FITS the family lore passed down.

Has Warren claimed any other ancestor then her GGG-grandmother?

I don't think she has.

why would there be a shortage of native american DNA samples?
That sounds like a bunch of hog wash to me.

Thank God you are here to weigh in, you know as an expert on the subject......

The actual hogwash is Warrens claim.
Cultural appropriation is ugly no matter who does it.

Why won't you deal with the fact that I gave you a quote from Elizabeth Warren admitting that she listed herself as native American. Her DNA shows that she is 1/1024 native American. You must be at least 1/16 to be able to list yourself as native American. She is a lawyer for God sake. I'm 1/32 native American and I know and have known since I was a child that I can not make that claim.

If Warren has Native American ancestry -- then she has Native American ancestry.

The fact you don't like it is not relevant.

Being a "scientific" test there is a margin of error.
Warrens percentage lies clearly with in the margin of error.
She could in fact have NO native heritage to claim.

But hey you go right ahead and defend her.....

I've been following this for awhile.

New technologies are more accurate.

Can you find a date for your article?

By the time you start talking "1/1024th ancestry", we might as well start talking about how we all supposedly came from Africa.

Or perhaps do a square root of 420 (20.4939015319) take on the "seven degrees of Kevin Bacon".

I prefer to do 'Sigma Native' (Sum of Sums Native American): what has she ever done for them that didnt gain her political points, what influence did they have on her family or anything else, versus exploitation self-serving etc type dynamics.

You apparently also know nothing of American Indian history.

Which explains why you make such uneducated, uninformed child like comments.

I recall when this sites motto was 'deny ignorance".

Attacking a member out of pure ignorance simply shows your elementary grade level and inability to communicate.

I am a member of a tribal nation and I take great offense at your comments, just as I do with Warren's b.s. claim.

No matter what Elizabeth Warren’s DNA test shows, there’s no genetic test to prove you’re Native American

But even if these particular attacks stop, the test certainly doesn’t prove that she’s Native American. There is no DNA test for being Native American because DNA and genetic ancestry are not the same as culture and identity.
....
In a statement provided today, Tallbear pointed out that Warren shouldn’t continue to defend her ancestry claims despite refusing to meet with Cherokee Nation members that challenge her. “This shows that she focuses on and actually privileges DNA company definitions in this debate, which are ultimately settler-colonial definitions of who is indigenous,” Tallbear writes. “She and much of the US American public privilege the voices of (mostly white) genome scientists and implicitly cede to them the power to define indigenous identity.”

Pfffft.
Do African Americans have to prove their tribal roots to claim african heritage?
Does an Irishman have to prove his clan?
DNA doesn't lie.
There are a lot of native american tribes that come from Oklahoma where Warrens family roots are.
All the biggies like Cheyenne, Choctaw, Cherokee, Apache, Arapaho, and Comanche and those tribes traveled far and wide across the Midwest to the Rockies so there are probably millions of DNA samples to go by.
Its not like she's looking for tribal benefits or a place on the reservation.
This proves a long standing family story for her and her kin. And should be enough to shut up the ones claiming she's a liar.

Native American ancestry is Native American ancestry.

No matter how minute.

6 generations back is 1/56.

If it turned out to be her GGG-grandmother, that would be 3.12.

As long as she identifies as "Native American", that should suffice?

Actually I'm confused if her being female and liberal over-rides her whiteness, in a cultural appropriation sense of all this.

I'm perplexed!

Interesting they ignore what the actual minorities have to say about this.
