This will do nothing to get to the bottom of the obesity epidemic. Just as they intend. It isn't about the amount of calories, but the type of calories. It is all about the TYPE of food you put into your body.

But I guess the more comforting theory would be caloric intake. Then no massive poison producers, errrr I mean food producers will need to stop making their food imitations at a fraction of the price of real food. Then you can marry that to the theory that it is all genetics. I gain weight because of my genes therefore it isn't my fault. Now where did I put my 128oz soft drink? It only has 10 calories so I am good.

You are so right. You can limit your calories and eat crap and you won't get near the benefits you will if you start eating unprocessed foods and avoid sugar while acknowledging portion control. That alone works miracles.

This is the truth.

I have been actually losing weight over the past year. Slow and steady. I've dropped 20 pounds. So I finally uploaded a calorie and exercise tracker app in order to find out if I'm simply doing the right things on my own or if there is a health issue because I don't feel like I'm consciously trying to lose weight.

Long story short, this Sunday we made a pasta dish from scratch and since I'm not familiar with the app yet, I guestimated the calories in the dish using restaurant portions of similar food. Then, yesterday, I poked around and realized that I could put my own recipes in so long as I was willing to look up nutritional information online and do some math. The difference in calorie count between the two methods was amazing. Granted it wasn't exact, but cooking my own trimmed around a hundred calories out at least.

And after a while, a cup of food feels like quite a bit.

Your comment, "A cup of food feels like quite a bit", rings true for me because recently I am experimenting with slowing down while eating and chewing more and taking sips of my drink inbetween bites and I feel fuller faster, then I notice everyone else's eating style seems to me to be shovelling it in with very little chewing involved. Anyway, I always feel better after not eating a great deal of food at one sitting and I am not gaining any more weight at this point.

In Britain, there's a state-funded system called the National Health Service, or NHS, which guarantees care for all. That means everything from ambulance rides and emergency room visits to long hospital stays, complex surgery, radiation and chemotherapy — are all free. They're paid for with payroll taxes.

Old age pensioners barely making the rent do have a tough time finding affordable ways to eat healthy.
Unless they are lucky enough to live in the country where they can grow their own fresh veggies, cheap bakery goods loaded with sugar are more affordable. For those folks in low tax brackets perhaps an incentive program would make more sense, or even a government health food co-op?

There is actually truth to that. A lot of people eat to feel full meaning they shovel it in more than they eat to really worry about how it tastes. As a result, they eat far more than they need to. Your stomach takes time to register that it's actually satiated.

I've always been a slow eater because I eat for flavor. So I take my time over every bite. I ended up naturally eating less, and I also earned the label of "picky" because of it. Stuff that tastes bad ... tastes bad. It's not that I'm picky. I actually enjoy a wide variety of things from all locals all over the globe, but it does have to be prepared well.

Here's a budget battle where they basically spend the equivalent of about $20 US to make ... something ... to eat. It works out to spending $4/guy, but they don't use all their money in cooking.

It's a bit of a mish-mash because they do a relay challenge with it, but it does show that putting together a meal for 5 on limited means is possible.
