Fleming wrote Bond as 1 man and the new films are just rebooting of some of the old stories.

And I cant find anything that says time lords are gender locked. Hell, I can't even find if they have different bits down there. They might all have both sets of tackle, apart from the top hamper, obviously.

It would seem movies with a strong female lead are making money. Perhaps this is why TV shows are following suit.

but as you said establishing the relational editing of continuity in case of gender change is harder to achieve in james bond series.

I'm conflicted about casting a non white actor as Bond, since he was always a white character and, if whitewashing a character is deemed bad, then so should blackwashing one..

On the other hand, I think he could pull the role off, but for me, it probably wouldn't feel like Bond..Terrible racist that I probably now am.

Well one was originally cast as a white, British male while the other was a regenerating alien with multiple hearts and lord knows what else...

They do some weird storylines, so you never know....Some sort of poison that needs to be neutralised by staying still, eating chocolate liqueurs, drinking Chardonnay and then excreted through tear glands...
