National Solar Observatory, USPS office in Sunspot, NM evacuated for 'safety reasons'

Asking this fellow on /pol/ right now about where residents are staying—if he knows. I get the impression from reading that he commutes in though, so may not get an answer.

Edit: May be awhile. He’s got a lot of questions. Will try to touch base if I get an answer on this. May be in the morning if I fall asleep—should have slept awhile ago.

Actually, I recall seeing something about the grant for the observatory being modified on September 7th and will last until 2019. I'm still trying to relocate that article. Not sure if it was posted here or reddit.

Regardless, Since the observatory is still owned by the NSO, if there was an imminent closure there would likely be a roadmap to closure of the site somewhere out there but there just isn't - and it probably wouldn't just up and close one day because of a "security issue".

There probably is an indefinite closure on the horizon for Sunset Observatory but I really don't think this is it.

I agree, I’ve thought of that as well. However everything I have said, I stand by. Im very aware of how exciting as # this is but also realize I never believe in this #. Im only hear because it’s here and not just speculation. If any of my info is ever wrong(it was once so far) I will gladly redact it and let everyone know. There was a KOB article where they changed wording regarding showing the public “footage” to showing “data”. The irony being they said it would be unaltered—then they altered the wording of the article.

By now there is probably media money for anyone who wants to start whistling.

Umm....that would likely get you banned here. I'd stop away from the computer for a bit and relax. It really doesn't matter if he is lying or not....more info will come out from various sources.
