Women caned in Malaysia for attempting to have lesbian sex

What a world we live in today.
In my neck of the woods we have a supreme court nominee about to be hammered on unmercifully.
Not because he's an evil bastard, no, just because of his political affiliations.

But on the other side of the world we have two women being beaten for an attempted sexual act.
Beaten in a public setting no less in what I can only assume is to dissuade others from attempting the same awful crime of being gay.

www.theguardian.com...

Blaaa...

But dont worry, all of our cheap clothing made in Malaysia will still be available to purchase.

So you are being intolerant of others intolerance
I am sure their are laws in the US that some cultures would be disgusted by
I am sure some people in the US are disgusted by some of their own laws

Why do you get to be the morality judge, who made you the police of right and wrong, the judge of others?

Yikes. Unfortuantely this is the price of maitaining international autonomy. It isn't the US' or any other countries' place to tell Malaysia how to handle their gay population. We can certainly encourage them to change their ways, and I sincerely disapprove of this action, but what else is there to be done? It's not like I was planning on taking a vacation to the country any time soon or anything (not that it would matter to me anyways since I'm not gay).

Makes me think of this Dave Matthews song which is pretty much about how people in the world can have totally different circumstances no matter how times change:

What a crock of #.

Chinese eat dogs, I dont judge them even though I find it disgusting.

But when people get beaten for being in love I will judge the hell out of them.

There is a difference between love and sex.

I imagine they are free to love whoever they choose.

They should be thankful that they are not “DEAD” yet. Honestly, the whole story smells “fishy”. Living in the largest in "% "Muslim populations and try to act like LGBTQQIA..?

Name” ONE”.. only” ONE” Muslim country around the globe supporting this kind of “typical American made MADNESS” and I’d be shut up.

Those “IDIOTS” paying back what they have been “PAID” for…

TBH, most theocracies disapprove of homosexuality in some way. This isn't beholden to just Islam. It usually takes a secular government for that country's gay population to see humane treatment and acceptance.

Of course there are exceptions to this, like Russia for instance (they are secular but the government persecutes gays), but for the most part you are making an incomplete comparison. Muslim led governments acting as they do is just an extension of the intolerance of theocratic governments in general.

I know I'm interrupting but...

Do you support this law? Or are you just disagreeing with the OP's belief that the punishment does not fit the crime? Are you in favor of corporal punishment for sex crimes between two consenting adults?

to the OP: I don't like to see this either but until the entire idea of religious law / morality policing is done with, issues like this will crop up occasionally. IMO it really sucks because the fight for human rights reaches a dead end when it comes to islamic fundies.

Sharia law an it punishment should, an SHALL be carried out by an invisible Jinn, due to the fact a man, hits a women with a club, or whip is still considered an act of sexuality if he enjoying beating naughty people. If the man married it considered adultery.

if another women does it gay especially with the gimp suit. And if she does it to man, then she a transgender..and so that man.

And a man chopping off limbs is also extremely gay...I mean they a chopping an hitting on a man, and loving it.

Also having multiple wives is considered an act of bixseaulity...if she touch it and get seconds it still is gay.

No Mercy!

Did you just state I can't judge a country for allowing the beating gay people? I'll judge any country that allows and endorse violence based on their own BS morality laws.

I'm judging them and I'll continue to judge them same if a western country does something not Acceptable anywhere.

Yikes.

lol

After reading it seems the last time this happened was two men and they received 83 lashes each and these women received 6 lashes. I do wonder how many were gettin their rocks off by this.

Canings are a contentious issue in the region, particularly in Aceh province in Muslim-majority Indonesia, where in 2017, two gay men were lashed 83 times each after they were found having sex.

Would you feel the same way if it were two Christians being caned for practicing their beliefs? Or are you only indignant with the OP because you believe these ladies deserve what happened to them? Indeed, maybe it's God's judgement on them?

Who made you the arbitrator over other men's judgements?
