It was political version of catcalling....I think that was the analogy.

TO be honest, I was also thinking this:

"hey lady, here is some money, entertain me"

lol

Just deflecting a simple im scared to debate you would have been much better. We need more honesty out of people running for political positions. Admitting she doesn't have what it takes would have been a good start in honesty.

I don't think you win an election with the phrase "I'm scared to debate you" available as a soundbite, or as a cut and paste text from a news article. Imagine that phrase, uttered by a politician floating around out there.

You now how it goes now, we get so much information out of context, we accept it, if it fits our narrative.

Although, these rules seem to be skewed with Trump...I don't really get t..But his flock is very forgiving.

I wasn't being confrontational with you, I agree with your post. And I also don't think she should accept, but I wish she did. She did not reply well, and she is not very smart, it would appear to me, but I don't know her. I think Ben Shapiro would wipe the floor with her the way I would with DJT.

And yes as others have written, Ben is a pundit on a very questionable propaganda website, Daily Wire. He does not have a journalist background, does not have the journalist integrity (who does these days?) and would just lead the debate his way and say whatever he needs to say, even if inaccurate-- she should not accept if she wants to be taken seriously.

Oh but I wish she would!

I'm not a big fan of the Littlest Chickenhawk. However, apparently, Ocasio-Cortez can't defend her policies even against mainstream media approved conservatives like Shapiro.

Personally I hope Democrats get more folks like Ocasio-Cortez, and try to run them outside urban areas.

So he Offers Ocasio-Cortez $10,000 dollars to her campaign to come onto his show

Wouldn't this donation amount violate campaign finance law? I thought there was a limit on individual contributions.

All she had to do was say: Thanks for the offer but I don't feel like a debate at this time.

By putting out the you're catcalling analogy she knew her far left sjw followers would eat it up thus deflecting from the fact that she turned down the challenge which was her goal. And she achieved it.

Im sure Ben would have offered to give the 10k to a charity of her choice.

Now if anybody in here is into a sport or anything that can be competitive would ya take a challenge from someone you clearly know is better than you if they would donate 10k to a charity of your choice?

Everyone here would. Hence she is scared plain and simple, that 10k to her favorite charity isn't worth the embarrassment that would befall her and she knows it lol.

Unless anyone in here actually thinks she could beat Shapiro in a debate??

I was thinking the same thing, but I imagine this scenario has quite a few loopholes. His outlet could pay for it as a business entity possibly? They may even be able to frame it as payment for her participation?

Question marks to imply I am not a lawyer, or anything close.

Because how could she do a show and believe she could defend this....

Issues on her website

Medicare for all
Federal job guarantee
Housing a Human Right
Gun Control
Assault Weapons Ban
A Peace Economy
Criminal Justice Reform
Abolish ICE
Support LGBTQIA+
Clean Campaign Finance
Solidarity with Puerto Rico
Education for All (Higher)
Support Seniors
Mobilize Against Climate Change
Womens Right
Restore Glass Steagall

There is not ONE actual thing that she could possibly implement. It reminds of a list a 6th grader might make who knows nothing about the real world.

Ben Shapiro....i kinda like the dude. Except...

I mean, what kind of moron goes and makes a Tweet to someone, then writes an article for their news publication advertising how they pwned someone on Twitter?

It reminds me of the bully in high school. "Hey everyone, look at the blood this wedgie drew on the nerd". It just seems dumb.

That is how this comes off to me. She did not seem to handle it very well, being drawn in to the bait, but his conduct afterwards was a bit of a douche move.

She can't go into enemy territory. Like many liberal millennials, shes never had her positions really challenged.

Lmao. Is this how it works? Well then I challenge Donald Trump to a public debate. If he doesn't give me what I want, he's a coward.

C'mon, you are smarter than that and know your example is not an apples to apples comparison. She is running for congress. Congressmen appear on radio talk shows, local and national all the time. Ben Shapiro is not just some random youtube vlogger. He is an established political pundit.

Restoring Glass Staegall could easily be done and there are people on both sides of the aisle that have talked about doing just that.

Perhaps you know nothing about it.

That's not true.

Women's rights are on there. I just hope she's not going to take credit for it when she finds out they do in fact have rights.

“Miss Ocasio-Cortez, I'm really excited that you've been elevated to that position and I would love to have a real conversation with you about the issues. You've noted that you think Republicans are afraid to debate you or talk to you or discuss the issues with you,Not only am I eager to discuss the issues with you, I'm willing to offer $10,000 to your campaign, today, for you to come on our Sunday special," he continued. "We can have an hour long conversation about all the topics under the sun, really probe your belief system.”

The problem I have with liberals is that they generally run from detailed policy debates. Conservatives love to go into the lion's den and debate liberals. Liberals rarely do the same. A liberal debate is having a scripted Jon Stewart edit a talk show interview.

Shapiro has gone up against Bill Maher and did pretty well considering the laugh / applause tracks that Maher uses against people. He regularly speaks at colleges / universities and goes up against liberals in real time with no gimmicks.

That's all that needs to be said. She says conservatives are afraid to debate her, she gets called out and makes an excuse not to debate. More projecting from the left thus proving she is the actual one afraid.

My initial thoughts on her is she's out of her element and trying to make it up as she goes along. She's relying on celebrity, not being actually qualified.

This Shapiro thing is just a dog and pony show. She should be vetted heavily through debate though to expose that she's just a empty vessel in pretty wrapping paper and a media darling. She's not literate enough to hold and office like that and she would just be a pretty marionette to put on camera. They would have to keep her from actually discussing issues, hidden in a broom closet.

I used to see you as one of the brightest minds on this site, even though I disagree with almost every opinion you present.

You know this is about her childish comment. How can you defend her correlation of debating politics to cat calling? How low have you sunk?

If Donald felt the need to troll your request then your comment would have merrit. You are defending a troll who doesn't even know how to debate what she claims to stand for. You may not agree with Donald but he has no problem defending his political platform in a debate.

Easily done huh? I read politicians were looking into Dodd-Frank as an easier option but then again I do not know what I am talking about right? FO

So since you are always bitching I cannot have a discussion tell me how the other 15 apply and she would implement. In fact, maybe I will to start a thread and no derail this one although it does have to do with her.
