I live within half hour of Stratford-on-Avon, and did a lot of Shakespeare at school.

It always amazes me how the son of a country glove maker had the knowledge and breadth of experience to write such masterpieces!

He grew up in a country village, went to a free school in Stratford, knocked up a local girl and had a shotgun marriage at 18, then ran away from Stratford after being caught poaching deer. It is unlikely he had access to much reading matter in such an environment and before the printing press was invented!

His theatre career started as the guy who looked after theatre-goers horses!

Anyhow, a couple of interesting tidbits from his bio on Wiki:

1) His playing company were called the King's men and were officially made "Grooms of the Chamber" of King James 1.
2) His son Hamnet died aged 11 of unknown causes (though bubonic plague was a possibility). This struck me because of Ham radio and communications net.

I've been to Stratford on Avon a couple of times too. Anne Hathaway's cottage is beautiful...but felt so false.
I'm one of those conspiracy kooks that believe Shakespeare was a cut out for Edward de Vere or Francis Bacon.

Wow... report by BBC just now on the Pope's visit this weekend to Ireland.

An abuse survivor says "There is no way back for the Catholic Church in Ireland now, or around the World for that matter!".

Another Irish catholic says "Who are they to refuse a woman communion because her cheating husband divorced her, who are they to tell us what we can do with our bodies (abortion, contraception), when they are raping our young boys. The Vatican is one of the richest countries in the world - they just want our money in their collection plates, it's a business".

A very powerful interview with 2 very genuine lay women... if this is really representative of how Irish catholics are now thinking then the church is facing revolution!

That's what I'm angling at too... Will Shakespeare was just the posterboy for nobility that didn't want the establishment knowing who had written the plays.

Anyhow, best not go too far off track. I just wondered if there was a Shakespeare layer to the posts meanings.
