Hate to burst your buble but it isnt a detention center. This is where unaccompanied minors are sent until they can find relatives to take them. They stay there about 30 days until a bew home is found for them. This is a humanitarian thing if a minor is crossing the border bt themselves you wouldnt juat want to release them into society without any means of taking care of themselves.

So you can not answer my simple question? That is fine as I was one out of curiosity.
will you still think it's not ok,
Now how can we have an honest discussion when you ask hypothetical questions based and put words in my mouth?
None of this assumption would be OK to any decent person. I'm more concerned with the facts that the senator was acting on.
To his credit, he was denied entry with federal guards.
I answered it for you, didn't I?
if people are too dumb to allow children being imprisoned, for any reason,
Is there proof to this claim as it applies to this topic?
I'll answer it again. Not yet in this thread. Or maybe you were referring to my full quote:
if people are too dumb to allow children being imprisoned, for any reason, it will be a thumbs up to go ahead with the rest of the plan.
That is called a Future Conditional... if this happens then this will happen. In the future, if that happens, than it will be a sign of this.
That answer it better? If you word the question right I promise to take time to answer it and explain it. If this doesn't then go ahead and ask it differently and I'll come back and explain what I meant to say.

If what Merkley saw and said is true and not hyperbole, one word will invalidate your whole claim:
Cages.

The detention facility is run by Southwest Key Programs, who promptly issued an apology to the Senator from Oregon on Wednesday for disallowing Merkley entry to its converted Walmart on Padre Island Highway in Brownsville.
We regret having to turn away Senator Merkley at our Casa Padre shelter. The U.S. Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) prohibits any facility from allowing visits that have not been approved by them, even if it is a U.S. Senator. With ORR approval, Southwest Key shelters have welcomed elected and other public officials at our facilities in the past, and will continue to do so, because we are proud of the caring environment we provide these children. We have reached out to the Senator and connected with his staff because we would like to see this happen. On a final note, it is important to understand that Casa Padre is not a detention facility. It is an unaccompanied minor shelter with many layers of oversight: it is licensed for childcare by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. All our shelters are regulated by state childcare licensing authorities as well as local and county authorities. Additionally, federal employees from ORR visit our shelters multiple times a week.

The Pacific Fertility Center said a piece of equipment in its cyro-storage laboratory "lost liquid nitrogen for a brief period of time" on March 4. It is the second clinic to report a fault that weekend. In an unrelated event, more than 2,000 frozen eggs and embryos were also left compromised at the University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center after a malfunction caused temperatures to drop in the freezers where they were stored.

Great post infolurker
Did anyone here really believe their denials at the time? I certainly didn't.
I tend to ignore official explanations ever since the government contradicted themselves RE: Roswell. "We captured a flying saucer and alien bodies" to "weather balloon" (repeating ad nauseum for every UFO sighting until ~2017)
